My Rolling Stone article on erotica writers and publishers resisting Trump

I wrote about anti-Trump political erotica for Rolling Stone, talking to erotic writers and publishers including Chuck Tingle, Go Deeper Press, Coming Together and the writers behind Kickstarter funded anthology NASTY: Fetish Fights Back, whose content and motivations are explicitly about resisting our new administration and its policies. Their books benefit organizations lie the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and MoveOn. If you like the article, I'd appreciate if you'd share it.

Listen to my bisexual open marriage travel erotica story "Flying Solo" on new podcast episode

I love working with Rose Caraway, author, editor, audiobook narrator and host of The Kiss Me Quick's podcast because she is super talented, has an incredibly sexy voice and best of all, from my perspective as an anthology editor, makes the stories in my books available to anyone who wants to listen to them for free! That's what she's done with my story "Flying Solo" (click on the story title and scroll to the bottom to listen; press the arrow to the left of "libsyn" to start)) from Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 1, which stars a woman who usually picks up partners with her husband when they travel, but in this case is about to board a plane alone (hence the title) and has been instructed to bed someone she meets by her hubby. You'll have to listen to find out what happens next. And you can hear all 22 stories from the book ready by Rose on the Audible audiobook. Also, I couldn't be more thrilled with the hot graphic they came up with (catch the fun wordplay on the airplane; "Stupidfish" is their production company) that so perfectly captures the spirit of my story.

A new free BDSM erotica story by me and a new cover for my 40th birthday book Dirty Dates

Maybe you've noticed from my wordy subject line I know shit about SEO and have trouble sticking to word counts. That's me, and what I've learned about myself is that I am not likely to change the core things that make me unique. I spent a long time trying to, and now I'm learning to embrace all my quirks and oddities and even my flaws.

I shared a brand new free BDSM erotica story up at Lady Smut called "Indoor Voices." Lemonade from a writing rejection: I had a contract for this story for an anthology and had even blogged that it was in an anthology, because that's where I thought it was being published. I found out yesterday I was incorrect, and after a few moments of disappointment, I decided to publish it. It's also a taste of my BSDM erotica that I hope will get you excited about my anthology that pubs on my 40th birthday, November 10th: Dirty Dates: Erotic Fantasies for Couples, which is available for pre-order and now has a way hot new cover! Read the introduction and table of contents on Tumblr and subscribe to my monthly newsletter at rachelkramerbussel.com for writing tips, event info and giveaways!

Free femdom from Come Again: Sex Toy Erotica

It's been quite the week, so to celebrate the weekend and Come Again: Sex Toy Erotica, here's a free excerpt from my story "Claws Out," inspired by actual claws I saw but never bought at Purple Passion. By the time I was able to buy them, they no longer stocked them! I can't find a good photo that does justice the ones I had wanted to buy, but if I do, I will post it. In the meantime, here's part of my story; read the rest along with 20 other creative, hot, sexy varied stories of sex toys in Come Again. Read more about "My Life as a Vibrator" by Livia Ellis and "Must Love Dolls" by Giselle Renarde from Come Again.
From "Claws Out" by Rachel Kramer Bussel

He only began to stir when she raised his hands above his head and twisted her panties into makeshift handcuffs around his wrists. “What’s going on?”

“You’ll find out soon enough, Sleeping Beauty.” She ran the flat of her palm along his spine, down over the slope of one buttcheek, curving along his balls. She wanted to make sure he was, indeed, hard; otherwise the torment of keeping him on edge lost some of its appeal.

“That’s what I like to feel first thing in the morning,” she uttered as she reached beneath him and wrapped her hand around his stiff cock. John tried to buck into her touch, but she was too smart for that, and immediately dropped it.

“That’s not what your dick is for,” she snapped. His moan let her know he didn’t mind one bit; being used as little more than a phallic prop turned him on like nothing else. Okay, maybe not quite as much as her taking him to the edge of pain and keeping him dangling on the precipice. Celia grabbed the pouch before straddling his waist, making sure her wetness met his warm skin. If she wanted to, she could simply hump him until she came, maybe use a vibrator to heighten her pleasure. But she’d have no problem getting off later; this was about a more lasting kind of pleasure, the kind she got from making sure he knew he belonged to her, through and through.

Before she broke open the pouch, Celia decided to play good domme for a little while longer. She leaned over to the bedside drawer, letting her nipples brush against his back as she reached for the massage oil. “Just relax.” Those two little words could have multiple meanings—their simple, surface meaning, or their more twisted, sadistic opposite. She wasn’t above telling him to relax right before she pushed the lever on his nipple clamps higher, tightening them on his nubs, or before she brought a vibrator up to his balls. It was up to him to read her well enough to hear beyond the dictionary definition, to learn her body language even when he couldn’t see her. Only when he’d mastered that skill would she truly know he had long-term potential.

Celia warmed the oil between her hands, pausing to rub a little on her breasts, once again leaning down, this time to smear the warm liquid directly onto him. She added more, doing a sexy slip and slide before capping the bottle. Then she put her training as a masseuse to work. She’d done a stint as a massage girl, giving hand jobs but also true back massages; she’d been so good that the latter were what netted her the biggest tips.

Soon he was practically purring, putty in her hands—just where she wanted him. After digging her elbows into a few strategic spots, Celia stopped.

“Stay right there; I’ll know if you move.” She got up to wash her hands, and when she returned, she made sure to jingle the claws; the soft tinkling sound of metal on metal made him groan. “I have a surprise for you, because I take good care of what’s mine, don’t I?” When all Celia got was a moan, she pinched the tender skin at the back of his neck. “Words, darling, use your words.”

“Yes, you do. You always know what I like.”

“That’s more like it. Now relax; this will only work if you don’t tense up.”

Then she put the claws back on, transforming herself into what she considered her own version of Catwoman. She didn’t need to dress up; the claws were all the costume she desired. With them on, she was a fierce woman with a weapon, one she chose to use for their mutual pleasure.

She waited until the only sound she could hear was John’s heavy breathing. She shifted so the full weight of the warmth between her legs pressed down against him, then, steadying herself with her left hand on his upper back, she traced the tips of the claws from the nape of his neck on down. With barely any pressure, they still had a profound effect, if his breathing was any indication. “Well? What do you have to say for yourself?” she asked, before sinking them just a little more firmly into his soft, pliant skin.

“Oh my god,” he sobbed, his body shaking as she made identical pink lines down his back. Celia had expected, to some degree, how turned on he would get, but the claws seemed to be working just as much magic on her. With each stripe she left on him, a corresponding jolt of excitement crept from his body back into hers.

Free sex toy erotica book offer ends March 15, 2015

Just a heads up that in order to keep my mailing manageable, I've set March 15, 2015 as the cutoff for requests for free copies of Come Again: Sex Toy Erotica for U.S. Amazon.com reviewers (or when I reach 100 requests). And yes, if I were a rich lady, I could send these to anyone anywhere in the world, but I'm not, so I have to limit this to those in the United States. The bonus is you get the book before it's in stores, and will have two months to review it (you should receive yours by the end of March, and I'm asking people to post their reviews by the end of May, aka Masturbation Month).

So get your requests in if you want this free book and are up for posting a review on Amazon. I'm working on a post about all the sex toys that are in the book, but I can tell you there are a few fictional ones as well as jangling nipple clamps, remote controlled vibrators, dildos, metal claws, a thigh harness, a sex doll and much more!

Here's how to request your free book and more about this hot anthology:

1. By March 15, 2015, email sextoyantho at gmail.com with "Amazon" in the subject line AND your name, U.S. mailing address and URL of a previous Amazon.com review, which will look like this: http://www.amazon.com/review/RZR12JEVAAK0Z/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=0062076000&nodeID=283155&store=books. Click on your review's title and then copy and paste the URL for it. If you can't do this, you can send the URL of your Amazon profile which has a link to your review(s).

2. I will reply to everyone, either confirming you are one of the first 100, or letting you know that you're not (and I will update this post once the 100 have been spoken for).

3. For the first 100, once you receive your book, please post an honest review on Amazon.com by May 31st.

4. That's it! Some other ways to follow and support the book: @comeagainbook on Twitter, our Facebook page and Tumblr. Come Again is also on Goodreads, where you can mark that you want to read it (thank you!) and rate it.

Email sextoyantho at gmail.com with any questions and thank you for reading.

Introduction: Sex Toys Are Everywhere

I love sex toys, both the kinds you can find in sex shops and the kinds you can find pretty much anywhere. Because the truth is, anything can become a sex toy in the right hands, and Come Again proves that.

In these pages, you’ll read about vibrators, butt plugs, strap-on harnesses, dildos, nipple clamps, a sex doll and even a Superman dildo. But you’ll also read about characters so smitten with sex toys they’re willing to go to great lengths to create their own, whether it’s a special bike designed to make pedaling a woman’s favorite sport (in “The Bikery,” by Oliver Hollandaize) or an inflatable ball on a stick (as in “The Prototype,” by Malin James). Perhaps in the future, we’ll have sex toys like the orgasm machine being peddled in “Sex Sells,” by Adriana Ravenlust, or the Simulsphere that provides “The Cure for the Common Lay,” which Valerie Alexander so masterfully serves up.

Sex toys are a perfect complement to a kinky relationship, offering one person the power to control how the other uses his or her toys. In “The Secret Shopper,” by Kitten Boheme, the act of shopping takes on an extremely risqué overtone, while in “Sex Kitten,” by Errica Liekos, a tail and a transgression provide the perfect entrée to a hot scene.

Toys are a wonderful way for couples to double the fun, and that concept is taken to humorous and wonderful heights in “A Tale of Two Toys,” by Chris Komodo, in which the popularity of remote-control vibrators is celebrated. I was awed by the way Giselle Renarde detailed the romance, wonder and pleasure a Japanese sex doll brings to a couple sharing her as they expand their sexual repertoire. Are Honor and Tom having a threesome with Natsuki? In their own special way, yes indeed. Dena Hankins’s “Gift” shows that you’re never too old to explore a new toy.

Nature lovers will appreciate the ingenuity of “Vegetable Love,” by Susan St. Aubin and “Get Your Rocks Off,” by Jocelyn Dex, and I know I’ll be thinking about J. Crichton’s “Icy Bed” every time I take out ice cubes from my freezer.

You’ll find proud toy users and those whose private pleasures wind up being exposed in stories like “Dare You To,” by Jillian Boyd, where the jangling of nipple clamp bells is a little too loud for comfort, and “In the Pink,” by Rob Rosen, in which a masturbatory moment in the office turns into some hands-on sex education.

All of these stories celebrate sex toys for the ways they can shake up a routine, enhance an orgasm, transform an identity or simply add new delights to your sex life. Once you’re done reading, I’m pretty sure, like me, you’ll start seeing sex toys—or at least, potential sex toys—everywhere you go!

My first erotica story "Monica and Me" is now available for your listening pleasure

The wonderful Rose Caraway, who narrated my books Gotta Have It and The Big Book of Orgasms and turned them into amazing successes that have surpassed my wildest dreams (and will narrate the 69-story The Big Book of Submission), and who I'm reading with September 15 at Booksmith in San Francisco, has now recorded my very first erotica story, "Monica and Me." I wrote it in 1999 when Monica Lewinsky was a household name, for a book called Starf*cker edited by Shar Rednour, while in the process of leaving law school; I recall trying to get into the NYU Law library but no longer being able to once I wasn't enrolled, and that it was on the kind of disk you never see these days. In other words, half a lifetime ago. Many lifetimes ago, it feels like. I had absolutely no clue then that that story would bring into my life one of the most important relationships I've ever had, or would set me on a path that I could even contemplate having freelance writer problems. I almost wrote, "I look back now and think..." but I'm not really sure what I'd do differently.

Getting off on mental kink and the joy of service in The Big Book of Submission

I'm someone who enjoys erotica about all kinds of kinks and fetishes, but I admit I have a soft spot for mental kinks, for filthy minds, for the way words and actions can combine in ways that set someone on fire (not literally). Some of my stories are more action-oriented, but usually I'd say there's at least some mental component too. I haven't been writing as much erotica lately as I I'd like to; it doesn't always come as easily as it once did, and I struggle more for it. I only occasionally go back and reread a story and think, Wow. I pulled it off the way I wanted to.

lotusbloomsgroupphoto
Lotus Blooms reading, front: Me, Tess Danesi, Michelle Augello page; back: Emerald, Kristina Wright

Last week at sex toy store Lotus Blooms (where you can get a copy!) in Alexandria, Virginia, I read the entirety of my story "Reverse Psychology" from The Big Book of Submission: 69 Kinky Tales, and I did think that. I liked that I had what I hope is a believable male narrator, one who isn't a sadist, but performs sadistic actions in the name of service. For me, a dirty mind is probably the number one thing that will make me attracted to someone, because then they can wield it in all sorts of ways, expected and unexpected. They can get me to do things I would never have thought I'd want to do, which is similar to my male protagonist. Perhaps someday I'll write his domme's side, about a woman who loves pain within the context of BDSM but doesn't have a submissive bone in her body.

RKB-BBOS-Blog-Tour-Badge

This is the first post in the month-plus-long virtual book tour for The Big Book of Submission, so readers and authors will be sharing their takes on the book. You can read almost half of "Reverse Psychology" over at Unbound Box, who will also be posting 2 more excerpts from the book, so keep an eye on them. And I'll post as soon as the audiobook narrated by Rose Caraway is for sale! Again, when you don't 100% love your work, it can be awkward to hear it read aloud by someone else. When you know you've given it your all and are happy with the final outcome, rather than wondering, What if I'd added a line here, or rearranged this paragraph..., it's a far more exciting experience to have it read back to you.

3 books of women's erotica: Orgasmic, Fast Girls, Women in Lust

I have to admit that of all my books, Orgasmic is one of my favorites because I think the stories as a whole deliver such great variations on the theme of female orgasm. Sometimes people say to me, "Isn't all erotica about orgasms?" Well, not necessarily. People miss the fact that when you are editing a book around a theme, whether it's spanking or bondage or orgasm or submission, the stories need to focus on the theme but also give new life to that theme. It can't just start out "orgasm orgasm orgasm" and end with "orgasm orgasm orgasm." The characters have to grow and change over the course of the story and explore orgasm in some deeper way. That's what the stories in Orgasmic do so brilliantly. So whether you're into chemistry or horse riding or having your private parts struck with a belt or BDSM or Tantric sex or whatever a given story covers, there's a way into the story because the authors lead you there with their characters. There's humor and intensity and love and lust and confusion and frustration and focus. That's true of each of these anthologies, I think. I think the "every bit of erotica has orgasms" mindset means that you go into the story thinking this one thing will happen. Maybe it will--in fact, I can guarantee it will in Orgasmic, but that doesn't mean you really know what you're going to get.

That's probably the most elusive quality I look for when editing anthologies, as I am right now (deadlines are coming up fast!). I like stories that take those reader expectations and twist and turn them until they're almost unrecognizable. That's not to say there's no payoff for the reader, or that the kinky girl at the start of a story suddenly only wants to make out (though in the right hands, that could work), but that there's something extra delivered beyond those early expectations. Or maybe you have no idea what to expect because the premise is so unusual, such as in "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore, one of my favorite stories I've ever published. And a little word on these subtitles: yes, they are billed as "erotica for women" and feature female authors, but I would never venture that only women will enjoy these books. If you like erotica, if you like reading about women exploring their sexuality in different ways, you'll probably appreciate these books. Orgasmic is probably the one book I'd say I'd recommend to get a feel for the kinds of erotic stories and storytelling I enjoy. Fun fact: the entire reason The Big Book of Orgasms exists is because Orgasmic was such a hit! It was a bit of a surprise to me precisely because of the "isn't all erotica orgasmic erotica?" mode of thought, but apparently, orgasms are popular!

Speaking of which, if you've already read these, I'd love it if you'd give them a short review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Even a sentence or two truly goes a long way! Goodreads links: Orgasmic, Fast Girls and Women in Lust.

I'm honored that Lucy Malone, who's narrated novels by bestselling author Jaci Burton, is the narrator of the Orgasmic audiobook. Here's a little bit of what she said in an interview about erotica:
I enjoy how erotica does not seem bound by the limitations that you see in other kinds of writing sometimes and how the sexual element is often a metaphor for personal transformation or a deeper exploration of self. People might assume it’s the book equivalent of porn, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

I often find myself very engaged with erotica because those books are often the most multifaceted—there can be a strong paranormal element, a romance, fight scenes, profound character development, and sex scenes all in the same book.
And a personal high point, one that felt like a full circle from my old law school life, when I discovered the band Sarge, to my erotica editing one? The song that inspired the title, "Fast Girls" by Sarge, is the soundtrack to my bubble bath book trailer for the book:

orgasmic
Orgasmic: Erotica for Women
Orgasmic springs from a delicious idea — a book of erotica that explores every possible type of orgasm. This highly original concept could only have come from the delightfully dirty (and brilliant) mind of Rachel Kramer Bussel. Oral sensations, digital delights, tricks with toys, and the old bump and grind are all featured, along with many more imaginative ways to bring a lover to climax. By taking the reins, one woman finds pleasure on top; an experimental lover discovers ecstasy with a remote-controlled vibrator; body and soul merge in multiple orgasms through tantric sex. Orgasmic covers it all, from the familiar to the uncharted, opening up a Pandora’s Box of scenarios and techniques to bring readers to new heights of pleasure.

Fast Girls: Erotica for Women
Fast girls don’t mind being the girl everyone is talking about, as long as all eyes are focused their way. They are wanton, daring, shameless, and bold. Featuring writing by Tristan Taormino, Kayla Perrin, Donna George Storey, D. L. Women in Lust: Erotic Stories
Lust is urgent, overpowering, and potent. While in real life readers may not always act every time desire calls, in fiction, they can abandon the safety of propriety to seek out lust and sex wherever they find them. The characters in Women in Lust may vary in the objects of their lust, and how they go about acting on it, but what connects them is that pure impulse for a lover. Sometimes he is someone she knows well, a boyfriend or a husband; in other stories, he is a stranger, and is desirable precisely because he represents the unknown. Whether watching a lover playing guitar, going out for a smoke or simply engaging in a chance encounter, these women seize the opportunities presented to them, and savor the lovers who teach them about themselves, helping open them up to new sensual possibilities.

My Rihanna-inspired flash fiction story "Teamwork" out now in ebook Drty Little Numbers

Today is the release date for the new e-book Dirty Little Numbers: Erotic Flash Fiction of 500 Words or Less edited by Lana Fox and Angela Tavares. I'd been touting the Go Deeper Press call for submissions for this one in my erotic writing workshops because it's a challenge and an art to write a full, sexy story in 500 words or less but it can be done. I'm looking forward to reading all the others and strongly recommend writing short, either like this, or the 1,200 word limit, such as in my books Gotta Have It and The Big Book of Orgasms. It's amazing how much you can cut out when you have such a strict word count; it forces you to boil down the essence of what makes your story.

My Dirty Little Numbers story is called "Teamwork" and was inspired by the news that Rihanna enjoys getting bikini waxes for the pain. There are so often straight from the headlines stories that beg to be turned into erotica. The official blurb for the book is below, and you can buy it directly from publisher Go Deeper Press, or for your Kindle or Nook.

This collection of super-short erotic stories features steamy work by Rachel Kramer Bussel, Kristina Lloyd, Tamsin Flowers, and dozens of talented others. From the romance of sex in taffeta as the sea whispers beside us, to the power of a birthday menage-a-trois and an attraction as compelling as Nabakov’s Lolita, these tales strip off fast and pop like champagne.

The works in this anthology are a mix of LGBT, heterosexual, and kinky erotic pieces by Erzabet Bishop, Benji Bright, Daniel Burnell, T.J. Caliber, Heather Day, Stephen Dorneman, Arianna Douglas, Jeremy Edwards, Tamsin Flowers, Lana Fox, Abyssinia Grey, Nikki Haze, Madeleine Hennefield, Mia Hopkins, Waffle Irongirl, Regina Kammer, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Adrea Kore, Axa Lee, Annabeth Leong, Kristina Lloyd, Jacob Louder, Raziel Moore, Giselle Renarde, Shane St. John, and Angela Tavares.

New date for Milwaukee Erotica 101 workshop: September 27th at The Tool Shed

I moved my Milwaukee Erotica 101 workshop at The Tool Shed (2427 N. Murray Ave.) to Friday, September 27th so taht I can be part of a special event in New Jersey, which I will have more detials about soon. You can sign up for this workshop on the Tool Shed website and if you're so inclined you can spread the word and RSVP on Facebook and FetLife. My last trip to Milwaukee was last February and there was a snowstorm so I'm hoping the weather is a bit nicer to me this time around! I've been editing and writing lots of erotica and realizing once again what makes a good erotica story, and am looking forward to hearing what students cook up! I love teaching workshops in sex toy stores because there's so much inspiration right at our fingertips.

Anal sex erotica excerpt: "Rectified" by Tiffany Reisz, from Baby Got Back: Anal Erotica

More anal sex erotica for you, following on the heels of "Brenda's Booty" by Tenille Brown, in celebration of this month's Cleis Press anthology Baby Got Back: Anal Erotica. This excerpt is by bestselling author TIffany Reisz, of The Original Sinners fame (check out her other books, especially one of my favorites, Felt Tips: Office-Supply Erotica, since Staples is my favorite store and I have a huge fondness, though not a sexual fetish, for office supplies). I'm kicking myself for not taking a photo with her at RT Convention. Next year! I don't want to give away too much of what the story is about, but it starts in a bookstore, which to me is a wonderful setting!

From "Rectified" by Tiffany Reisz

“I’ve never gone to bed with a man I just met.”

“No wonder you’re crying in the bookstore.”

“You won’t think less of me?” She smiled at him.

“The only women I judge for their sexual choices are the women who turn me down. All none of them.”

“I’d hate to break your streak.”

“Then don’t.”

“It probably won’t work, you know? I’m warning you right now.”

“I’ll probably have you screaming from pleasure in under an hour. I’m warning you right now. Say yes.”

Lela laughed. Might as well. It was the least she could do for her poor vagina after all she’d put it through today.

My senior erotica article at The Daily Beast

I wrote about senior erotica at The Daily Beast in "Erotic Lit Your Grandmother Will Like", featuring Joan Price, Desiree Holt, Michelle Churchill, Cheyenne Blue, Tsaurah Litzky, Suzy Spencer and others - if you like it, I'd love it if you'd click like at the top/spread the word there. My suggested title was "Our Senior Erotica Moment," but I like this title better, and am sure my grandmother would have too. Thank you!

Interview with me at BDSM Book Reviews

Over at BDSM Book Reviews, I answer questions like ""Are you actively involved in BDSM? If so how do you identify yourself? Dom(me)/sub? Top/bottom? Switch?" and "Is there one area of BDSM that you tend to write about more? Why do you think that area creeps into your writing more than some others?"

Speaking of BDSM, today my copies of Best Bondage Erotica 2013 arrive! I'm actually having them sent to my boyfriend's so will take some glamour shots next week (I am a total dork and take unboxing photos of my books, but you know what? Fortysomething anthologies in, it is always the most thrilling feeling in the world, to know I made a book. Once that gets old, I'll stop, but I hope it never does.
