Orgasmic, one of my favorite erotica anthologies, is on sale for $1.99 this week

My birthday month started by finding out that my anthology Orgasmic is on sale for just $1.99 for e-readers! Get it ASAP before the sale ends (which I think will be on Sunday but I'm not totally sure) for Kindle, Nook, Google Play, iBooks and Kobo.

orgasmiccover

As you can see from the cover, the subtitle is "Erotica for Women" but I 100% believe this anthology, featuring 25 women and 25 different types of and motivations for orgasm, can be enjoyed by anyone. It's one of my favorite books I've ever edited because it has such variety and amazing authors. You can also get it as an audiobook narrated by the wonderful Lucy Malone, which isn't officially on sale but if you have the Kindle edition the audiobook is only $3.99. You can read my BDSM story from the book, "Belted," for free. Here's a tiny snippet; I wanted the belt itself to be a main character and focused the kink around that.

The belt is able to speak in ways that even the both of you, wordsmiths by trade, cannot always do. The belt is not a “toy” for “foreplay” but a separate part of your sex life, one that may appear at any moment. Its presence lurks while you casually sip your drinks at the bar, hidden but powerful;, your fingers are itching to stroke it, if only so they can be slapped away. You never know if he will bring it out, how he will use it, how much of the belt, and himself, he will give you.

If you like Orgasmic, please consider passing on the news of the sale and/or adding a review, which can be as short as a sentence ("I liked the story ____ because ____" or whatever you want to write), to Amazon or Goodreads. It might seem like it doesn't matter, but the truth is, those reviews are one of the top ways people learn about my books due to Amazon's algorithm, so they truly do help, the positive, the negative, the neutral. It shows that people are reading them. And stay tuned: another book of mine goes on sale next week!

You can keep up with all the sales by following me on BookBub and do the same for other authors so you can always save money on our titles. Want to enter to win free books? Subscribe to my monthly newsletter - in October I offered every single one of my 2,000+ subscribers a free copy of my next anthology, Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 2 and many of them took advantage of it (I'll be going to the post office next weekend with some very heavy bags of mail!). I plan to do the same with Volume 3 next year, and do other special subscriber giveaways each time. Next up are audiobook giveaways in November and December.

Lastly, if you want to know why I'm such a big fan of my publisher, Cleis Press, it's because a book like this, which came out in August 2010, sees new life every day because it's available in so many formats, has a brilliant narrator for the audio version (sadly, some of my books don't and I actually discourage people from buying them because I know if that's the only taste of my work they'll get, they'll never return), and is about a topic that apparently people continue to love. I of course want my books to do well when they launch because that's what helps determine whether I get to edit more (speaking of which I just signed the contract for Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 4, which you can read in December 2018!), but when books continue to find new readers long after their release dates, it not only helps support me and my business, it means that the books truly matter. That they aren't just here in a flash and gone tomorrow. It makes me extra proud when that happens and I'm so grateful for these sales because I want all of my authors to be avidly read. I think these stories totally stand the test of time and are as hot today as they were when they were first published and will still be hot in 2026. I've had plenty of books I edited go out of print, never to be seen again, not available in any other format. That's happened less as publishers have realized that ebooks are forever, but it's happened and it's made me incredibly grateful for the books that do stick around, that readers have patience with, that maybe they discover for the first time or rediscover, the ones that remind me to take my copy off the shelves and marvel again at the beauty of the wordplay or wildness. That's useful when I sit down surrounded by huge stacks of submissions and have to whittle them down into a new book. It helps remind me that I can do it, that I've done it before and will keep doing it as long as I'm given that opportunity. Okay, sappy almost-middle-aged rant over. Thank you for your support of Orgasmic and if you haven't read it, now's a great time to try it!

Why I picked it: "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore in Orgasmic

If you've ever taken an erotica writing class with me, you've likely heard me quote from one of my favorite stories of the many hundreds I've published: "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore. It's about, yes, chemistry, as in labs and scientists, and it's in Orgasmic: Erotica for Women, which, even though it's about 25 women and their 25 different orgasms, is really "for everyone." It's also currently on sale for 99 cents on Kindle, to end any moment (it was supposed to end yesterday). It's also 99 cents on Google Play.

orgasmiccover

What I love so much about it is that it taps into an unusual fetish, portrays a woman of science who's hot for scientists, uses the senses, especially the sense of smell, and brilliantly takes us inside the mind of the narrator and her fetish. It jumps right into what she's all about and doesn't let up. Part of why Orgasmic is the model I use when editing anthologies, such as Best Women's Erotica 2016, which I'll be reading all the submissions for next week (deadline is June 1, writers!), is that it is so wonderfully varied. No, it doesn't have every possible way a woman could come; I don't have the space for that. But it looks at single women, coupled women, kinky women, queer women, and so many more. Just as the book as a whole is a model for me for what I aim to achieve as an editor, this story is a model I offer as one example of an exquisite erotic story.

Here's a snippet, and I hope you'll like it enough to check out the book. As I said, the 99 cent sale is probably ending very soon. You can also get it in paperback and audiobook narrated by Lucy malone. Here's a little snippet of what I love about the story. I hope you like it too:
From "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore:

The smell of science makes me horny.

I narrowly resisted shoving my hands down my pants and rubbing myself to oblivion during my niece’s science fair. My stomach dips with pleasure every time someone lights a match. Each July I’m aroused by the vapors of the noise-making novelty fireworks called “snappers.” Little do tricksters know that when they crack one on the pavement at my feet, I shiver out of excitement, not fear.

Smell is the sense tied most closely to human memory. So when I sense any use of potassium chlorate; a white, crystalline compound well stocked in science laboratories and often used for combustion; I remember how it feels to have the fire of orgasm sizzle its way through my body and melt a liquid path down my legs. The chemical’s odor singes my nostrils and flashes me back to the sensation of a chilly, marble countertop pressed against my back, to the press of fingers digging into my supple thighs, to the slick pressure of rounded glass slipping in and out.

And it’s what I remember most about him.

Most scientists that I’ve met fit the typical stereotypes. Most would rather analyze your genes than pry off your jeans. Yet I suspected that Michael Harrison was capable of much more than stripping me of my pants. With his wavy black hair, broad shoulders and Clark Kent glasses, I believed that stripped of his unassuming attire, he would have something surprising and heroically powerful bulging underneath.

I understood this the first time I shook his hand and caught the scent of chemicals trapped in his clothes and seared into his skin, a smell faint and tangy and far too interesting to be cologne, like the smell of your body after a lengthy swim in a freshly chlorinated pool. I imagined that if I should run my tongue along his perky nipples, my tongue would sizzle as though touched to the tip of a battery.

We needed a scientist to impress the hospital donors with a tour of the lab. I planned to find an excuse to use him.

25 women orgasming - read all about it for 99 cents in Orgasmic

Orgasmic is only 99 cents right now on Kindle! I believe the sale lasts until Thursday, so act fast. It remains one of my favorite of the 50+ anthologies I've edited. Why? I think it's one of the hottest and certainly most varied. I made sure that none of the 25 female orgasm erotica tales were too similar, and it has a story I read from in all my writing classes, "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore, which I consider a model of how to write an intriguing erotic tale about an unusual fetish. Want to read my BDSM story "Belted" for free? Visit Goodreads, and I hope you'll also enjoy the other 24. At 4 cents a story, this bargain can't be beat (unlike the narrator of "Belted")! If you've been hankering to listen to these orgasm erotica stories narrated by Lucy Malone, buy the 99 cent Kindle version and get the audiobook for just $3.99!

Of course my top 3, linked to the above and below images, are narrated by Rose Caraway, because she has been the most wonderful person to work with, and the only narrator who has gone out of her way to promote my audiobooks both on her The Kiss Me Quick's podcast and by making specifically tailored images for them, and her talent, professionalism and dedication show in the audio and in the sales figures. Simply put: I'd love to work with her on all my audiobooks. Since that's not possible, the ones she has worked on are the ones I continually encourage people to check out, and I would love to work with her again (hint, hint!). I can't say enough good things about her, and the best part is you can just click on any Audible book, hers or another reader's, and get a free sample listen to help you decide for yourself. One of the main criticisms I've seen of my 3 69-story anthologies, all narrated by Rose, is that they are too short and there's not enough story. Well, if you only like novels or very long stories, these aren't for you! If you are like me and have a short attention span and love short and snappy and sexy and variety, then maybe they are. I hope to have the opportunity to edit another book of 69 short stories someday, because it's a fun process and I get to work with so many more authors than I usually do. (Right now my only call for submissions is the one for Best Women's Erotica 2016, open to women authors with a June 1 deadline, though earlier submissions are strongly encouraged!).

Orgasmic is one of my favorite anthologies I've worked on and has a story I highlight in my erotica writing workshops: "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore. As someone who almost failed chemistry in high school (I could do the math but the science eluded me), I fell extra hard for this chemistry fetish tale, and it's just one of 25 amazing stories in the book, all centered around female orgasm.

I heard Audible founder and CEO Don Katz give a great talk on Saturday at TEDx Navesink about investing in their local community in Newark, and it's great to be a Jersey girl working with a Jersey company (who, yes, is owned by Audible). With that, I'll take a moment to post this graphic again, because I love working with Rose:

Today only: 25% off any book at Amazon

Yes, really, any print book on Amazon is 25% off today:
To use this promotion, you must enter "BOOKDEAL25" at checkout under the "Gift cards & promotional codes" section to receive 25% off any ONE (1) book purchased in your order (up to $10 promotional credit).
All my books are listed on my website and most give you a free sample on Amazon or you can look inside them. My top 3 picks?

The Big Book of Orgasms: 69 Sexy Stories - my all-time favorite book I've edited! Named a must read of the year (though technically it's a 2013 release) by Book Riot.

The Big Book of Submission: 69 Kinky Tales - this year's kinky contribution that has a ton of variety in terms of who's giving and getting, and lots of twists on BDSM. Want a free sneak peek, or rather, 69 of them? Excerpts from all the stories are here.

Orgasmic: Erotica for Women - "Erotica for Women" is part of the marketing, which is necessary in a highly competitive publishing marketplace, but please don't let that dissuade you if you don't identify as a woman. These stories are hot, hot, hot, and this book contains one of my all-time favorites that gets mentioned in every erotica class I teach: "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore. I almost failed chemistry so this one continues to wow me every tie I read it.

3 books of women's erotica: Orgasmic, Fast Girls, Women in Lust

I have to admit that of all my books, Orgasmic is one of my favorites because I think the stories as a whole deliver such great variations on the theme of female orgasm. Sometimes people say to me, "Isn't all erotica about orgasms?" Well, not necessarily. People miss the fact that when you are editing a book around a theme, whether it's spanking or bondage or orgasm or submission, the stories need to focus on the theme but also give new life to that theme. It can't just start out "orgasm orgasm orgasm" and end with "orgasm orgasm orgasm." The characters have to grow and change over the course of the story and explore orgasm in some deeper way. That's what the stories in Orgasmic do so brilliantly. So whether you're into chemistry or horse riding or having your private parts struck with a belt or BDSM or Tantric sex or whatever a given story covers, there's a way into the story because the authors lead you there with their characters. There's humor and intensity and love and lust and confusion and frustration and focus. That's true of each of these anthologies, I think. I think the "every bit of erotica has orgasms" mindset means that you go into the story thinking this one thing will happen. Maybe it will--in fact, I can guarantee it will in Orgasmic, but that doesn't mean you really know what you're going to get.

That's probably the most elusive quality I look for when editing anthologies, as I am right now (deadlines are coming up fast!). I like stories that take those reader expectations and twist and turn them until they're almost unrecognizable. That's not to say there's no payoff for the reader, or that the kinky girl at the start of a story suddenly only wants to make out (though in the right hands, that could work), but that there's something extra delivered beyond those early expectations. Or maybe you have no idea what to expect because the premise is so unusual, such as in "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore, one of my favorite stories I've ever published. And a little word on these subtitles: yes, they are billed as "erotica for women" and feature female authors, but I would never venture that only women will enjoy these books. If you like erotica, if you like reading about women exploring their sexuality in different ways, you'll probably appreciate these books. Orgasmic is probably the one book I'd say I'd recommend to get a feel for the kinds of erotic stories and storytelling I enjoy. Fun fact: the entire reason The Big Book of Orgasms exists is because Orgasmic was such a hit! It was a bit of a surprise to me precisely because of the "isn't all erotica orgasmic erotica?" mode of thought, but apparently, orgasms are popular!

Speaking of which, if you've already read these, I'd love it if you'd give them a short review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Even a sentence or two truly goes a long way! Goodreads links: Orgasmic, Fast Girls and Women in Lust.

I'm honored that Lucy Malone, who's narrated novels by bestselling author Jaci Burton, is the narrator of the Orgasmic audiobook. Here's a little bit of what she said in an interview about erotica:
I enjoy how erotica does not seem bound by the limitations that you see in other kinds of writing sometimes and how the sexual element is often a metaphor for personal transformation or a deeper exploration of self. People might assume it’s the book equivalent of porn, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

I often find myself very engaged with erotica because those books are often the most multifaceted—there can be a strong paranormal element, a romance, fight scenes, profound character development, and sex scenes all in the same book.
And a personal high point, one that felt like a full circle from my old law school life, when I discovered the band Sarge, to my erotica editing one? The song that inspired the title, "Fast Girls" by Sarge, is the soundtrack to my bubble bath book trailer for the book:

orgasmic
Orgasmic: Erotica for Women
Orgasmic springs from a delicious idea — a book of erotica that explores every possible type of orgasm. This highly original concept could only have come from the delightfully dirty (and brilliant) mind of Rachel Kramer Bussel. Oral sensations, digital delights, tricks with toys, and the old bump and grind are all featured, along with many more imaginative ways to bring a lover to climax. By taking the reins, one woman finds pleasure on top; an experimental lover discovers ecstasy with a remote-controlled vibrator; body and soul merge in multiple orgasms through tantric sex. Orgasmic covers it all, from the familiar to the uncharted, opening up a Pandora’s Box of scenarios and techniques to bring readers to new heights of pleasure.

Women in Lust: Erotic Stories
Lust is urgent, overpowering, and potent. While in real life readers may not always act every time desire calls, in fiction, they can abandon the safety of propriety to seek out lust and sex wherever they find them. The characters in Women in Lust may vary in the objects of their lust, and how they go about acting on it, but what connects them is that pure impulse for a lover. Sometimes he is someone she knows well, a boyfriend or a husband; in other stories, he is a stranger, and is desirable precisely because he represents the unknown. Whether watching a lover playing guitar, going out for a smoke or simply engaging in a chance encounter, these women seize the opportunities presented to them, and savor the lovers who teach them about themselves, helping open them up to new sensual possibilities.

Orgasming in German

A bit of happy news in a largely bleak January: this summer will see the release of Orgasmic: Erotica for Women in German! (Click on title to read the introduction.) This book contains one of my all-time favorite stories, one I'm honored to have published and that I read from in pretty much every erotica writing workshop I teach: "Chemistry" by Velvet Moore. Read it and see why. I'll post the cover (sure to be much much racier than the U.S. version) when I have it, but for now, a recap of Orgasmic, which inspired my favorite of my books, The Big Book of Orgasms: 69 Sexy Stories. By the way, I'm hoping to be able to afford to go to Berlin this year, and would love to do any sort of event for my German books, so if anyone knows a good location, let me know at rachelkramerbussel at gmail.com - thanks!

I imagine my story "Belted" could also go in my sex toy erotica anthology (submit, submit! deadline is April 1), since what I chose to do was fetishize a belt and the character who wields it. Here's how it opens:
You’d never know the belt is there by looking at him. It’s lost between his shirt and his pants, tucked away, hidden, pulled close, serving a dual purpose. You’d never know it’s there, unless he made it a point of showing you. And he does, often, a hand resting there as a reminder in public, an intimation of what will happen in private. You have no idea how many other girls he makes a point of showing it to, but the reason you keep returning is that when you’re with him, you don’t care about the other girls. There could be hundreds, thousands even;, as long as he looks at you the way he does when he unbuckles and unfurls the soft, worn, brown leather, then coils the belt purposefully around his hand, you can let yourself believe he wears it just for you.

This isn’t the first belt that’s been used to strike you. There was the boyfriend in college who had you bend over, skirt around your ankles, camera flashing and belt lashing against your skin before plunging his oversized cock into your unprepared ass. He was all flash and no finesse.

Your lover is the opposite, or rather, flash and finesse mixed together in a dizzying way, with plenty of substance to back them up. He holds the belt like it belongs in his hand, like it’s an extension of him. He tells you that he thinks about you every day when he loops it through his pants, when he touches the cool metal buckle. Alone in some room or another⎯never either of your bedrooms⎯your body reacts before you have time to consider its wisdom when you see him reaching for the buckle. After all, you know from experience that could mean anything⎯he’s giving you his cock to suck, he’s going to shackle your arms behind your back, he’s going to pull your hair hard and slap your face until you cry, he’s going to beat you until your skin is heated from the outside in. All of these are possibilities, and all of these bring you pleasure, but you hope it’s the latter.

Winner, 2011 Gold IPPY (Independent Publisher) Award for Erotica!
