Dirty Girls flash sale - 27 erotica stories for $1.99!

I just found out last night while randomly scrolling online, as one does, that my Seal Press anthology Dirty Girls is on sale in ebook form for just $1.99 for Kindle, Nook, Google Play and Kobo! I don't know when the sale started or when it will end, though I imagine soon, so I encourage you to check it out. There are 27 very sexy stories inside. I'm so proud of this book, which came out all the way back in 2008 (hence the MySpace reference in the introduction!), and excited for it to reach more readers. Details about it below.

DirtyGirls-pick

What do women really want? To be sensually seduced or pressed up against the wall for a quickie? To be tantalized by a peep show or the chance to join the mile high club?

Acclaimed erotica writer and editor Rachel Kramer Bussel knows: They want it all. They want to be worshiped, ordered around, sent blindly into ecstasy, and made hot in front of a mirror. They want strangers bearing ice cubes on a hot day and to be the party favor passed around among guests. They want sex at the office and in the great outdoors and on trains and airplanes. They want sex with the whole United States of America (or, at least, part of it). They want to be wooed, seduced, flirted with, taken. They want to handpick their lovers and make them do their bidding. They want men, women, and sometimes both at the same time.

In Dirty Girls, the country’s best erotic writers explore their sexual psyches. With contributions from Carol Queen, Alison Tyler, Sofia Quintero, Shanna Germain, Lillian Ann Slugocki, Tsaurah Litzky, and many others, this collection will set your heart racing as you savor these intimate, shocking, and passionate female fantasies.

Blurbs:

“Finally⎯a book about what girls REALLY think about. Well, maybe not every one, but the dirty ones…and those are the ones who really count.” — Joanna Angel, CEO, BurningAngel Entertainment

Dirty Girls is the post-feminist generation’s answer to Nancy Friday’s My Secret Garden, a collection of erotically charged short stories that reveal that, in the 21st century, good girls are dead and dirty girls are the new black.” — Susannah Breslin, author of You’re a Bad Man, Aren’t You?

“A spanking good collection of smart erotica assembled by always exciting ringleader Rachel Kramer Bussel, Dirty Girls begs the question ‘What are those dirty girls thinking?’ and answers with insight not just to how women want it, but why.” — Lisa Beth Kovetz, author of The Tuesday Erotica Club

“This is an outstanding collection of hot women’s stories. That’s hot stories by women and stories by hot women. The table of contents reads like a who’s who in the best erotica writers around, an All Star team who deliver the raunch and punch the reader deserves. Rawr.” — Cecilia Tan, author of Black Feathers and White Flames: Erotic Dreams

Introduction: Dirty and Sweet Wrapped Up in One

“I can be dirty and sweet at the same time” reads my self-proclaimed motto on my MySpace page. When I wrote that, I meant that not so deep inside me lurks the soul of a highly perverted, kinky, dirty girl who can get aroused often by a single word whispered in my ear or a solid smack across my ass. Once someone gets me into that zone, I’ll do anything, no matter how depraved, to be with them. I’ll find myself fantasizing about all the wicked things we can do together throughout the day and night, waking from wild dreams with the wish that they were beside me. I’ll see their name in my inbox and get instantly wet. I’ll tell them in public exactly what I want them to do to me, and vice versa. Yes, that’s what I mean by “dirty.”

Yet I don’t think my sexual interests make me any less of a well-rounded, kind-hearted intelligent person. I’m “sweet” in the sense that I care about my friends and family, like sending cards and random gifts, strive to be a good person (also, I run a blog about cupcakes). I’m as likely to kiss a lover’s forehead tenderly and offer to tuck them into bed as I am to throw them down on the floor and strip them naked. For me, the sweet and tender and down-and-dirty go hand in hand; I’m most turned on, and most slutty, when I’m partnered with someone who brings out my sweet side. Once, I visited a boyfriend who was sick with a fever, and did the one thing I could think of to make him feel better: sank down on his bed and took his cock in my mouth. Playing the slutty nurse, horny yet doting, is another aspect to my dirty/sweet motto.

I’d originally meant the phrase as a throwaway line, but more and more I’m realizing that everyone (or almost everyone) has a dirty and a sweet side. All too often we denigrate the dirty girls⎯the ones who dare to publicly show their naughty sides⎯as incorrigible sluts, rather than realizing just how much exciting it is to tap into our lustiest selves. Once you crack the surface of those who are seemingly prim and proper (the demure suburban housewife, the suited-up banker, the quiet secretary, the curious bookworm, the shy computer nerd), you’ll very likely find that the simplicity of the word “dirty” doesn’t go anywhere near far enough to describe the kinks that lurk within them.

The women writing here don’t apologize for being dirty. They know who and what they want and they go after the objects of their affection in all kinds of different ways. Reading this collection⎯whether from start to finish or skipping around to your favorite authors or the most eye-catching titles⎯will give you a glimpse into what makes women wet, what makes us feel and act dirty, what makes us slick our lips and spread our legs. Maybe, just maybe, their stories attempt to answer Freud’s infamously infuriating query: “What do women want?” To judge by the twenty-seven tales you hold in your hand, they want to be worshiped, they want to be ordered around, they want to be sent spinning into ecstasy and then come crashing back down. They want strangers bearing ice cubes on a hot day, and to be a party favor passed around among guests. They want hot vacation sex, visits to peep shows, and a man who’ll lick stinky cheese off their boots. They want power, and they want to give up power. They want sex at the office and in the great outdoors and on trains and airplanes. They want sex with the whole United States of America (or, at least, part of it). They want to be wooed, seduced, flirted with, taken. They want men, women, and sometimes both at the same time.

Of course, there’s more to what women want out of sex than any one book could possibly capture. What I’ve done with this anthology is highlight some of the best erotic writing I’ve found from authors who show you exactly what makes their hearts beat and their clits stand at attention. What they’re up to is, as Marie Lyn Bernard so aptly puts it, “Fucking Around” (which I briefly considered as a very fitting alternative title to this book). When I first heard Bernard read this story tag-team style at my reading series “In The Flesh,” I was blown away. She captures so much of the drama of sex⎯the high highs, the low lows, the awkwardness and the intensity⎯in a playful yet totally hot way. And when she writes about the Big Apple, it’ll make you want to hop the first plane or train to get here: “New York fucks me. New York fucks me so hard that I cry. My pussy opens like the long throat of a flame-swallower. Her fingers make love to the inside of my bellybutton. I am sweating so much that our bodies glide against each other like fish underwater.” You’ll find yourself drawing a map of your own sexual conquests, marking your territory right along with Bernard.

But for every feisty babe here, there’s another just in the process of discovering what turns her on. “Dirty” can be a state of mind just as much as it can be a description of one’s bedroom antics. Carol Queen’s peepshow virgin protagonist Abby doesn’t quite know what she’s getting into with her new friends Daniel and Lila, but she desperately wants to find out. “Lila’s lips covered hers right away, soft and wet, licking and nibbling in one of the most arousing kisses Abby had ever experienced,” writes Queen. “Dirty” doesn’t always mean depraved, either; these stories aren’t all wham-bam-thank-you-sir (or ma’am) quickies. Many of them evoke the intensity of emotion sex can bring with it, the ways having a lover know you literally inside and out can throw your life completely off balance, as if they can read your soul like a map, using fingers, toys, tongues, and cocks to navigate you until they own your internal compass. The thrill of giving yourself over to someone, of giving up control for that deliciously delirious sensation of pure erotic adrenaline, surfaces throughout this collection.

The women you’ll find here are complex; they’re by turns playful and bashful, horny and haughty. They want to share much more with you than just the details of their latest screw. They want you to know what makes them tick, who haunts their dreams, why they can’t quite forget the man who fucked them senseless, even when they’re with someone new. They like to watch and be watched, to take risks, to live out their long-held fantasies. Some are in loving, committed relationships, ones that allow them room to get their freak on with the person who knows just how to push their every button. Others, like my “Icy Hot” protagonist, don’t even want to know their bedmate’s name: “I forgot about the fact that I didn’t really know him at all. Sometimes, in a city of millions of strangers, you just have to take a chance and let your body make the decisions for you, as I’ve learned over the years. And my body was saying yes, please, more, harder.”

“Dirty” doesn’t preclude poetry, the kind where the words roll off the page, roll from your tongue, so beautifully it’s like they themselves are making love to you. Writers like Marilyn Jaye Lewis, Suki Bishop, and Melissa Gira probe the twisted places women go in search of sex⎯and themselves. In “A Prayer to Be Made Cocksure,” Gira elevates the art of the blowjob to new heights: “I sucked your cock as if it was the last cock. I trusted you to let me keep breathing, to never take that final bit from me, to tell me that getting any air at all was your choice just by reaching your hand down the length of your chest to me, to cradle the back of my neck, to run your fingers across my lips, softly, as you plunged suddenly and held me at the edge.” She takes you right into that moment, where this intimate act is dissected, treasured, hoarded, and missed.

You’ll find a range of motivations here, from women looking to spice up a lackluster relationship to single girls on the prowl to kinky couples, daring dommes, and sultry sirens intent on performing on a sexual stage of their own creation. You may read their stories and ask yourself: Would you ever write your name across your lover’s cock? What about pick up a stranger at a rock concert or screw a doctor in a hospital? Get fingered at the opera? Go to a bondage club? These characters do all this and more, always making sure their wanting, lusting, panting, and perversions are met with equal fervor.

Take a hot and steamy trip with these writers as they unlock your deepest desires, or perhaps give you some new ideas to try out next time you shut your eyes and part your legs. From tender to tempting, sweet to sadistic, loving to lascivious, there’s something for every reader who wants to go to bed with images that’ll surely make you blush and just may spark some brand-new, unique fantasies of your very own.

Lucky Naughty Girls

"I'm so lucky to have such a naughty girl like you in my lap," Jake tells Deirdre in "What You Deserve" by Lori Selke, the opening story in the book you're about to read. In many ways, that sentence, its promise and passion, its claim and command, is what this book of kinky erotica is all about. There are a lot of naughty girls, a lot of laps, and a lot of men who understand that, in fact, they are lucky--whether they ever voice it or not--to have a hot, eager, filthy-minded woman eagerly awaiting the chance to serve them.

The other half of the equation, one that is vital to any BDSM story, but especially those told with an eye toward female submission, is that the naughty girls themselves know how lucky they are--and if they don't at the start of the story, they do by the end. They know they are lucky to have discovered a seed of submission somewhere within them and someone to complement and nurture that growing seed. They are lucky because they own their darkest, dirtiest desires, even the ones they struggle with, the ones that turn them on despite being taboo or unnerving in some way.

Actually, they are more than lucky; finding a master, a top, a boyfriend, a husband, a lover or simply a man who gets an essential truth about their submissive nature doesn't just happen. Well, sometimes it does, but I believe it takes a certain kind of prowess to activate and draw forth those kinds of dominants, the kind you can trust with your body and soul, your pussy and your power. What I'm trying to say is that the women here don't just wander down an alley and find a man to pin them against the wall; even when they encounter a sexy stranger, they are making a choice to obey him, to follow their own lust as much as another's command.

In "Room #3," when author Emily Bingham shuts the door on her characters, she invites us into a tale where we don't know who is touching the narrator, nor does she; we only know how much she likes it. When the narrator offers up her body, she enters into the unknown, a thrill in and of itself. "The moment I knocked on this door, I consented to become his plaything. From here on out I have no say in what will happen. No words are to leave my mouth in this space; I am at his mercy. I can only hope I've made a wise choice." In all the stories you will read here, a woman makes a similar choice, and we get to luxuriate in the ways that actively making that choice, owning up to our most dastardly, wanton, wicked fantasies can be a ticket to a ride we never want to get off.

I'm sitting in a coffee shop in San Francisco as I quote from Kristina Wright's "Coffee Break," wondering what I would do if a hot barista said to me, "Go to the bathroom now. Leave the door unlocked. Get undressed. Kneel on the floor facing the door." Actually, it's not the barista who delivers that message in her story, but it made me picture what I would do if I were handed a steaming cup of joe and such a command.

The stories in Serving Him are about everything from scenes in dungeons to the ways playing with power can extend beyond what we do when we are "playing." In "Safe, Sane and Consensual," by Ariel Graham, she takes that hallmark of BDSM safety and reflects on the ways we "safeword" when dealing with polite society. "May I ask what the spanking is for?" Aaron asks Annie, and his answer just may surprise you. There are plenty of surprises in store in this book, and whether you're a novice or a seasoned BDSM player, I hope you'll enjoy the exchanges to be found here--of dirty talk, power, roles, toys, games. These characters test each other, pushing boundaries from both sides of the top/bottom equation. Often it's the women who push their men to push them, to stop being polite and start holding them down, making them open wide, forcing them to relinquish a kind of power they are eager to let go off.

Many of the stories here are as intense as the acts described; I see them as tender, but they are likely to take your breath away, make you tremble or quiver, make you just a little bit afraid. That edge of awe and fear, of want and need, of excitement and surrender, is just where I hope these stories keep you. You don't have to be a naughty girl (or boy), in real life or in your dreams, to enjoy the twenty-two stories in this book, but I have a feeling they will bring out your inner naughtiness, whatever form that takes. I feel lucky to get to share them with you.

And as a little extra enticement, a snippet of my closing story, "Subbing," which, I promise, if you like the excerpt, the rest is totally worth reading:

She was aching, dripping, frantic before the crop even touched her. The first touch wasn’t a strike but a tease, as it brushed against her hard right nipple like a feather would, except this feather was made of leather, and she knew it wasn’t always going to feel so gentle. The man ran the crop all along her front, under each breast, along her gently sloping belly, up her neck. He let it rest gently against her cheek and meandered it along her underarm until she almost sighed in frustration. It was on; he tapped it against one nipple then hit the other one. Each nipple rose to attention, and after only a few slaps of the crop, Taylor was gritting her teeth, torn between watching the leather tip strike her tender nubs and closing her eyes to try to deal with the pain, the heat, the glorious rush she got each time the toy landed on her.

Just when her nipples felt like they were on fire, the man once again moved the crop down her body, this time to her inner thighs. He lifted her skirt and nudged her legs apart with his knee, then whapped her inner thighs. Taylor clutched the metal tightly, lest she sink down to the ground or be tempted to grab the crop and rub it against her wetness. The tender, padded flesh leading up to her sex had never been given quite so much attention, and Taylor bit her lip, aching with the sharp, pointed heat he managed to convey so expertly, like he was born to beat girls like her. She could almost forget they were actually playing a game, one in which she got paid for this, and simply be a girl who liked pain, craved it, needed it. It wasn’t until that exact moment that Taylor—as Tina—fully owned her innate submissiveness, her masochism that made even the hint of pain, like when the head of the crop teased her by merely resting against her skin, cause her to feel like she wanted to writhe in ecstasy.

Taylor mashed her lips together, suddenly longing for something between them, something to suck on or simply fill her up, and the look she gave the stranger was one of pure desire, one she was sure he could read just as clearly as the tears that sprouted to her eyes when he let the crop dangle and brushed a thumb lightly over her trembling lower lip. He moved closer, pressing her tight to the wall for a few seconds, then withdrew and raised his hand to her cheek. She shuddered so hard she thought she might come. “There’s so much I’d love to do to you, sweet girl,” he said softly, an equally fervent need crashing right through his voice. Taylor knew they were sharing a moment, a real one, despite its trappings, and her pussy actually hurt as it clenched around nothing. He’d landed one slap across her tender face and brushed away the tear that trickled down, when a buzzer sounded, signaling they only had five minutes left. Taylor twitched, wondering if the sub could request more time.

Crossdressing IG BB

I believe this sale runs through this Sunday, July 22 but if you want to be assured of getting this bargain price, I would buy it today. I hope even if you're thinking, What in the world is crossdressing erotica? that you'll give this book a chance because it's got a huge amount of variety and playfulness and definitely approaches the theme of "crossdressing" in ways you probably haven't considered before.

I'm especially happy to see this very queer, mixed orientation book getting to reach a wide audience. I think the print books have been out of print for years but ebooks and audiobooks are forever, which as an editor means a lot to me because I put a lot of effort into making this a sexy and surprising book. Here's the official blurb plus table of contents and introduction:
From femmes who channel Marlene Dietrich in the sexiest of suits to men who love nothing more than the feel silky panties stretched tight against their skin, these characters boldly indulge their fantasies of being a girl — or a guy — for a night. Drag queens get dolled up for a night on the town, a dyke packs a special surprise beneath her dress, and a devoted husband puts his dress-up skills to the ultimate test in this seductive new collection.

Introduction: Crossing Boundaries and Bending Genders

Crossdressing spans such a wide range of possibilities, erotic and otherwise, that the only thing we can safely say brings the mélange of its practitioners under one umbrella is that they dress (sometimes or all the time) in the clothing of another gender. In an age when gender is becoming increasingly fluid, deconstructed, questioned, and sometimes abandoned, we can begin to see the idea and reality of crossdressing in a new light.

This book focuses on the erotic pleasures of crossdressing, while also touching on the life-changing, mind-melting, earth-shifting experiences that can come from actively playing with one’s gender. For some characters, crossdressing means transgressing, transforming, subverting the rules to enter another body in order to enter another world, literally or figuratively. Sometimes it gives them permission to go where they’d be unwanted otherwise. For other characters, playing with their attire lets their minds create the fantasy creature they’ve always longed to be. It means acting, homecoming, freedom. Sometimes, it’s a fun, risqué adventure, a break from the ordinary, a chance to see what might happen if you slipped into a dress or suited up. Would you be the same person? Would you feel the same? Would you get turned on in the same way? These questions and more get tackled in Crossdressing, though the answers are as varied as we are.

When these characters don the clothes of another gender, or another gender role, they find not just their bodies but their minds altered in powerful ways. What was once forbidden is now acceptable?or maybe it’s still taboo but even hotter because of it. When they literally step into someone else’s shoes, their bodies, minds, and libidos can explore passions they might not dare voice otherwise. Whether it’s the bra, panties, and garter tucked away under the charcoal-gray business suit or the bound breasts flattened under a drag king’s snazzy attire, clothes, as more than one character here can attest, do “make the man”?or woman, though the person inside those clothes creates his or her power from within as well.

In Stephen Albrow’s “More Than Meets the Eye,” his businessman protagonist has a secret under his suit that’s his private treasure, until he chooses to share it: “My Brooks Brothers shirt is thick enough to cover up my white satin bra and garter belt, but not so thick that I can’t feel the garter belt’s lace trim as I run my fingertip over my abs. Just knowing this little bit of Suzy is there is enough to calm my nerves.” Part of his narrator’s delight is in fooling those around him. Yet revealing Suzy to her special lover is a bold thrill that yields untold rewards, and it’s this push-pull of discovery and secrecy, of flaunting and hiding, of male and female that makes the story come alive.

These stories are not just about crossing genders but about living with the duality of one within the other, mixed together, mingling—the experience of living as one changing how a person lives as the other. Ashley Laine, the sensual, seductive drag queen narrator of Tulsa Brown’s exquisitely rendered “Temporary,” reveals the fear that haunts her at being found out: “When his thick fingers began to creep under my panties, I edged away, afraid to ripple the surface of his fantasy.” Yet she proceeds, risking rejection for the joy of bringing that duality together into her erotic life. You can feel the shivers Rory delivers to her with the words “Oh, girl”—two simple but powerful words that encapsulate the crux of both Brown’s story and this collection as a whole. When these characters?men, women, and those in between or neither at all?are finally able to be recognized for their chosen selves, the thrill goes far beyond the sexual.

Yet sex, desire, lust, and longing are front and center throughout, even as more complex gender dynamics come into play. In Debra Hyde’s “Just Like a Boy,” we learn that simply turning oneself into a “boy” is not enough for her narrator. She longs to be the boy of her childhood dreams, not “an androgyne in boy’s clothes.” Yet her venture into male territory isn’t only for her but for her lover, Matthias, as well. Hyde draws out the tension in this dominant/submissive relationship, where power gets exerted in twisted, yet intriguing, ways.

The power of uniform gets invoked in Lisabet Sarai’s humorous “Beefeater,” in which a young British woman mocks family?and tradition?to dress in the garb of the Yeoman Warders guarding the Tower of London. The secrecy of her mission, combined with the defiant naughtiness of their endeavor, had me rooting for them with all the fervor of anyone who’s deliberately disobeyed, half-hoping to get punished.

Crossdressers themselves aren’t the only ones here with a tale to tell. In T. Hitman’s “Higher and Higher,” Pete pretends to be his naughty alter ego, Nate, when he hires Roni, a “dudette” who shows Pete a few tricks as she turns one, worshipping him in ways nobody else ever has. His internal dilemma, caught between sheer arousal and propriety, between who he thinks he should desire and who he actually does, gives us a peek into how those who lust after crossdressers of any variety also struggle to embrace their wants.

In Crossdressing, you’ll find men in panties, butches in dresses, girls looking like boys, drag queens, drag kings, and those who can’t be tidily summed up by their outer appearance. You’ll find men who want to be men, only prettier, and women who don’t have penis envy per se, but don’t always want to be the little lady. In short, you’ll find people across the sexual-orientation spectrum fucking with gender and gender roles?and simply fucking.

At one point, looking at herself in the mirror, Brown’s drag queen says, “Some people might call this a fantasy, but it was my deepest truth.” Here you get hot fantasy, fiction, and the kind of truth that really matters, the kind that gets under our skin, under our clothes, under our disguises to a place that speaks to us deep in our erotic souls. Whatever you’re wearing right now (or not), I hope you’ll join me on this tour across stages real and imagined, where the limits of gender-bending are in the eyes of the beholder.

Introduction: Beggars and Choosers

Judging from the title Begging for It, you might picture women with their tongues hanging out, perhaps a little drool pooling on their lips, come-hither eyes, kneeling, breasts thrust forward, ripe and ready and eager. And you’d be right—but not entirely right.

The women you’ll meet in this book manage to beg in all sorts of ways—boldly, silently, sweetly, submissively, nastily, hungrily. Sometimes, their begging is quiet ardent, clear as a whistle, but other times, they may not even know what it is they’re begging for. Each of them, though, is on a journey, a path to find something that’s missing from her life at the start. Some are searching for a lover—or more than one—while others have a partner in lust but are still seeking a bit of magic, daring, adventure, to lure them somewhere they’ve been longing—begging—to go, if only in their dreams.

For this anthology, I wanted stories that spoke to the many ways fantasies can play out in our lives. I wanted femme fatales and shy, unsure women, those who have glimpsed their truest desires briefly but have yet to fully indulge them. I wanted the kind of women whose sexual energy radiates off of them, the kind who turn heads no matter what they’re doing, the kind who look just-been-fucked—or just-fucked-someone—whether they actually have or not.

What I got were women who do indeed know what they want, whether it’s rope bondage or humiliation, a corset or an erotic adventure, robots or rough sex, but who are also open to finding unexpected, incredible pleasure they could not have imagined. They’re women on a mission, but they never know where exactly those missions will lead, and to me, that’s the best part of sex, and erotica: that each time might wow us anew. When Lauren Marie Fleming writes, “I was wet, so wet I thought I’d drip on the floor, and my nipples were as hard as my clit, both threatening to make me come with the slightest touch,” I’m right there with her, as Tabitha discovers what suspension can truly do for her, not to mention sexy Caleb.

These lusty ladies fall for cowboys, bosses, drag queens, rope wranglers, threesomes, Sirs and strangers, yet they never lose sight of that inner spark that has pushed them to say yes. In giving themselves to the objects of their affection, they’re gaining something equally valuable. Sometimes, there’s a different kind of give and take involved, such as with the masseuse in D. L. King’s “A Proven Therapeutic Fact,” who makes the delivery of a spanking a very special event.

These women are both begging and demanding, but most importantly, discovering the thrill of the unexpected. They are all sexual adventurers daring to go where they’ve never been before, or have only been in their dreams.

Two of my erotica books are $1.99 right now plus my Tasting Him giveaway

Exciting and time sensitive news: Cleis Press has put two of my anthologies on sale! The Big Book of Submission: 69 Kinky Tales is $1.99 through Sunday, December 10 and Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 2 is $1.99 through Sunday, December 17, for U.S. ebook retailers. This is a great opportunity to snap these up if you haven't read them or give them to someone who might like them as a holiday gift.

Throughout the year, assorted books of mine tend to be put on sale so I strongly encourage you to follow me on BookBub (aka my favorite website and perfect for any book lover who also likes saving money). You would also have my MAJOR THANKS if you left a review wherever you purchased it or on Goodreads. I'm three reviews away from the magic number of 50 on Amazon for BWE 2; according to everything I've read on the subject, 50 reviews helps their algorithm kick in and then they show the book to more potential buyers, which helps increase sales, which helps me pay my rent and continue to increase payment to my authors. So any reviews are greatly appreciated, anywhere (yes, even offline).

That brings me to my December newsletter, which you can read by clicking the link and scroll to the bottom for my sexy book giveaway. Never do I face greater impostor syndrome than when it comes to writing my newsletter. Well, writing and formatting. I'm a word person, always have been and always will be, but it's 2017 so I've had to figure out the barest minimum of graphic knowledge (ha).

I even skipped my newsletter for three months this year because I was going through a major depression and also just had no idea what to so or how to present anything I could say. But today I got this newsletter out in a timely manner, checked every single link...and still managed to mess up the date of the giveaway. The deadline to win Tasting Him: Oral Sex Stories is December 14, 2017, not November 30, which would be impossible. I strongly encourage you to enter, especially if you've never won one of my giveaways (secret: I do try to spread the book love around to new winners). And if you like the newsletter, please consider sharing it or passing along my website to someone who might want to subscribe. Thanks for putting up with my horrible design skills - what I lack in visual imagery I make up for with hot books!

My naked lady erotica anthology Smooth is on sale for $1.99

Good news: my Cleis Press erotica book all about skin on skin and naked sex, Smooth, is only $1.99 for Kindle (click through and you can get a free sample via email or read my introduction), Nook, iBooks, Google Play or Kobo! If you want to find out when my next book's on sale, follow me on BookBub (that's how I found out about this one).

Smooth Promo

I'm always thrilled when any of my books get put on BookBub by my publisher, because it means that they are reaching a whole new audience and it means these stories remain accessible. I'm in the process of putting one of my many out of print books out myself, and it saddens me that there are other anthologies that will probably only ever be read by whoever purchased them when they were print only. There's only so much I can do about that, but I'm grateful that these titles are not only still around and available in multiple formats, but also that throughout the year so many of my books have a sale price so they are available for a few bucks.

I know you might be thinking: aren't there nude people in every erotica story? Well, not necessarily (there's a lot you can do in sexy lingerie or a plain t-shirt or anything else. For me, when I edit an anthology, I try to find stories that have a special way of approaching the topic that will, yes, turn the reader on, but also add something to the subject. The sushi story combines two of my favorite things, food and sex, in a delicious way and every story brings a new way of looking at nudity. I think the sale is on through Sunday, September 10th. If you check it out (or give it as a gift to someone who could use some sexy stories), I hope you enjoy it.

About Smooth: The caress of skin against skin, the warmth of another's touch, relishing the sight that few others get to see - these are the reasons that disrobing before sex can be so gratifying. The stories in Smooth, collected by award-winning erotica editor Rachel Kramer Bussel, capture the heat of being stripped bare, of flaunting your body, and of reveling in pure sensuality. Read along as women get tattooed, become "the sushi girl" at a restaurant, strip on the subway, go commando, host tea parties, enjoy sploshing and much more. Featuring stories by Donna George Storey, Heidi Champa, Angela Caperton, Charlotte Stein, Louisa Harte, Jacqueline Applebee, Susan St. Aubin and more, these adventurous characters have more to reveal than just being naked.

Weekend surprise: Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 1 is only $1.99

I was casually browsing my books on Amazon this morning, as one does, and saw that Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 1, is on sale for $1.99 in ebook form. You can get it at the sale price for Kindle as well as Nook, Google Play, iBooks and Kobo. I think this sale runs through Sunday, July 16 but I'm not totally sure so if you want to get it for sure, snap it up this weekend!

BWE-Book-Promo

bookbub

Anyway, I'm thrilled because from the time the series started, I've been a reader so getting asked to edit it remains a career high and a giant honor. Having the first in the series I edited go on sale means I get to reach even more readers and, hopefully, sell more books. Right now I'm planning readings for Volume 3 (stay tuned for an announcement of the first one around Valentine's Day) and reading story submissions for Volume 4 (the deadline is November 1, 2017). I'll be sharing more about how this series has changed the way I approach anthology editing and, I'd like to think, made me a better editor, and it's definitely connected me to an amazing network of authors from around the world.

Not sure you want to read the book? Listen to four free stories narrated by the BWE of the Year 1 audiobook narrator Rose Caraway, including my own bisexual open marriage travel erotica story "Flying Solo."

And here's the book's official blurb:
Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 1, edited by award-winning author and editor Rachel Kramer Bussel, delivers risky, romantic, heart-pounding thrills. Featuring a diverse range of characters, sexualities and scenarios, these 22 steamy stories revel in erotic adventure, from the sparks between strangers to the knowing caresses of longtime lovers. Women learn "The Ropes," get "Starstruck" and dine with "Two Doms for Dinner." Penned by beloved authors such as L. Marie Adeline and Tiffany Reisz along with newcomers to the genre, these sexy encounters will give you plenty of fantasy fodder to last all year long.
And here's what reviewers have said:

"Edited for the first time by frequent anthology contributor and erotica veteran Bussel, this annual volume features short stories from a number of notable genre names, including L. Marie Adeline ("S.E.C.R.E.T." trilogy) and Tiffany Reisz ("The Original Sinners" series). Bussel makes a point in the introduction to emphasize that all 21 selections were chosen for their strong depictions of nuanced, intelligent female characters with whom readers should identify, offering erotica that titillates while it "respects your mind." The book lives up to that promise, opening with Tara Betts's poetic "A New Canvas," in which friends Angela and Troy redraw the lines of their relationship using their bodies for their canvas. With plenty of creative scenarios, styles, and positions, this impressive anthology is sure to be a hit among quality erotica fans."
- Library Journal

"This is a great collection of short stories, and if you've never read erotica before, it's the perfect place to start. There's a wide variety in the types of stories and kinks that are in this collection, so it's a great way to figure out what you like." - Bustle

"This anthology of 22 short, sexy stories is the perfect starter pack for erotica newbies and seasoned readers alike. There are pairings of all sorts between these pages. Among my favorites: Flying Solo by Rachel Kramer Bussel, who writes about a particularly hot open marriage, and The Altar of Lamented Toys, a poignant and bittersweet dystopian tale by Jessica Taylor. A bonus: because these stories are so short, they are perfect for reading aloud to your partner in bed." -Popsugar

"There's no bad writing here. It's all good--and a surprising percentage of it is also very good, understatedly original, quietly trenchant, colorfully curious, probing, poignant, powerful, from Valerie Anderson's Demimonde--an engagingly superb evocation of debauchery and kink in buttoned-up late-19th-century New York, to A New Canvas by Tara Betts and Drawn by Nic by Heidi Champa, both breathing in their cool inspirations from the gritty world of contemporary street artists. Jade A. Waters' Ophelia the Second takes readers into the mind and heart of an infatuated understudy, while Starstruck by Lazuli Jones takes a similarly delightful journey into the mad-rushing thoughts of a fortysomething fan-girl at last meeting the object of her hottest teenaged fantasies--one hero, it turns out, who does not have feet--or anything else--of clay!" - Erotica for the Big Brain

"I think Rachel did a phenomenal job compiling together all of these stories. Each one is great as astand alone and yet, all of them work well in this book. The other great thingwith a book like this is that you can find a little of everything for everyone. From loving couples who enjoy trying to spice their relationship up with a"date" night, to a leadership building excursion that turns hot and kinky, you are bound to find at least one (though I assume it will be more) story to enjoy." - The Writer's Inkwell

"The stories themselves vary widely. Some are hard, fast, well-written sex from start to finish. Some are a slow dance, and the sex (or at least sexual activity) are almost a footnote in the closing paragraphs. Want sweet romance? It's in there. Hardcore sex? Sure. BDSM? Yep. Vanilla? You betcha. The characters themselves are no less diverse. Singles on a hot night out, couples adding spice, groups, mono couples, couples in open relationships, renegade artists, hipsters, escorts, office professionals, theatre actors, cis/hetero people, LGBT folks, doms and subs, childhood crushes come to life." - A Roll in the Hay

"A collection of stories that not only seeks to turn you on, but also strives to make you think: about gender, about power, about age and sexuality, and about all the different ways that a diverse collection of women can and do get their sexy on. A definite bedside keeper!" - Romance Novels for Feminists

Here's a little more about what's in the book:
Submission takes many forms in this collection of 69 short stories, from straining in bondage to taking a spanking, being put on display, and beyond. By turns bratty and worshipful, these submissives will go to great lengths to fulfill their naughtiest fantasies and are rewarded splendidly by their masters and mistresses. A student returns to show his former teacher who’s really in charge, a photo shoot becomes an opportunity for erotic games, and a man revels in his wife’s past as a former dominatrix. These brats, masochists, and hungry-for-sensation subs go above and beyond for the ones they adore, pushing themselves to new limits while their devious dominants put them through their paces. Edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, these short stories sizzle with the tension of erotic power play, commands followed, and service willingly performed.

Introduction: Sex Magic

Hotel rooms are magical. Anything can happen in them, and the travelers in these stories know that well, using their hotel and motel rooms to engage in all sorts of explosive acts.

Sex work is, of course, a mainstay of hotel sex, but in this anthology, sex work happens with a twist. There's the male escort and a desk clerk in "Night School," by Valerie Alexander, the "Dirty White Envelope" in Ellie Vokes's story and the professional procurer in my "Special Request." Hotel workers play just as vibrant a role here as traditional sex workers.

Hotels give us an opportunity to engage in our favorite forms of sex magic on big, wide beds with plenty of pillows that can be used to lean back on or muffle screams of pleasure. We can indulge in the guilty pleasure of eavesdropping on our neighbors or walking down the hall hoping to spy or hear something juicy. Many of the characters here use hotels to escape from their everyday lives and engage in all sorts of flings and fetishes. Hotels bring out our most daring side, and let us strip down in a window, listen in on a stranger, star in an orgy and take part in all manner of other outrageous sex acts. In "Two-Way," by Ariel Graham, a couple rekindles their passion for hotel sex and exhibitionism, recalling past thrills while making new ones. Isabel, in Donna George Storey's "Selfish," sets out at age forty-four to try something new and a little risky, and her daring, and selfishness, pay off big time. The title of Anna Meadows's "Air-Conditioning. Color TV. Live Mermaids" tells you a good bit of what her story's about, but there's a tenderness and longing in this beautiful tale of a real mermaid and the man who wants--and gets--her that you'll have to read to fully appreciate.

The characters in Remittance Girl's "Proof of Desire" get exactly that, and in her telling, it's hot, urgent and fierce: "There it was. Need, desire so strong it burst into the stillness of the room, tainting the air with an ache. It hurt. It hurt deliciously to stand so close, to see the beads of sweat that birthed and glinted along the line of his sternum. To smell the faded scent of morning soap rise off his skin, and the sweetness of the oil he'd used on his cock, and the richer musk of his crotch. The tip of her tongue prickled with want."

The hotel in "Soundproof," by Emily Moreton is anything but, and listening to strangers get it on fuels Sam's desire as he soaks in every word. Suzanne Fox teases us with a fun yet sexy murder mystery weekend in "An Inspector Comes"--yes, her use of the double entendre is deliberate. "Surrender with a Twist," by Suleikha Snyder, takes us to, fittingly, Las Vegas; no book of hotel erotica would be complete without some Sin City sex. Lily K. Cho brings on the kink in "Unbound at the Holiday Inn," as a marriage takes a vital step when Mark bares his bottom for a spanking, changing the course of their relationship for the better. "Travelodge Tess" is on the job, but that doesn't stop her from having some fun along the way in Justine Elyot's clever tale. Elizabeth Silver delivers a torrid threesome in "Business Expenses," as Margo, Tonya and Javier enjoy sex toys--and each other.

The tone becomes nostalgic in Erobintica's "Return to the Nonchalant Inn," when Gerald and Jillian return to the island hotel they'd visited twenty years before and figure out if they can pick up where they left off. Tahira Iqbal looks at the head of a hotel empire, a modern-day Conrad Hilton named Mark Deacon, in "The Deacon," as this corporate tycoon makes sure to do a very thorough inspection of his hotels, and a very special employee. Steve Isaak's brief but powerful "Love, Loud as a Bomb" deals with the fear induced by a Hawaiian tsunami, and a clairvoyant who times her orgasm to a disaster.

Stories about sex workers abound in erotica, but they are usually women; "Night School" mixes things up with its male escort and a woman who turns him on to the thrill of being dominated. They exchange power in a way that unsettles and energizes them both. "He looked at the wall with this weird smile and I realized just how embarrassed he really was. I was the one whose presence had been requested tonight and he was the one who had done the requesting. He didn't know who was the client here, him or me, and the ambiguity had robbed him of his usual confidence."

In "Feel So Dirty," by Andrea Dale, a storm knocks out the power, but that doesn't stop Lea and Jon from skirting the edges of an affair as they enjoy a sexual connection that the close proximity of their hotel rooms enhances. "Please Come Again," by Tenille Brown, manages to tackle homelessness in away that doesn't address it as an "issue" but rather looks at the core of humanity and desire for human touch Randall hasn't lost, and that Simone welcomes as she takes care of him, sexually and otherwise.

Role-playing takes center stage in "Dirty White Envelope," which opens with, "It took me three years to tell Ron I wanted to be treated like a whore," and goes from there with this common, exciting fantasy. Erotic romance author Delilah Devlin gives us "Tailgating at the Cedar Inn," in which Kelsey brazenly takes on two guys, who are more than happy to enjoy her lusty attention. Michael A. Gonzales gives us a sexy heroine, Miki Jamison, a forty-five-year-old former blaxploitation star who luxuriates in the sumptuous hotel room, and her costar's passion for her. Closing out the book, Francine is famous for being able to deliver anything to her guests by "Special Request," and when Claudine requests she arrange--and attend--an orgy, she is more than up to the challenge--or so she thinks.

All of these stories capture some aspect of the thrill of hotel sex, and I hope you will enjoy them at home, at a hotel or wherever you happen to be, and perhaps you'll be inspired on your next vacation, staycation, work trip, or wherever your travels take you, to engage in the spirit of these sexy stories.

Orgasm Is Just the Beginning

As Barbara Carrellas writes, there are so many types of orgasms, more than any single book could cover, but within these pages, you will not only find numerous types of orgasms, as well as the varied characters who experience them, you will also discover different motivations for getting off. Some have a tried and true method, some are willing to take a chance on a new sexual practice—or partner. Some of these characters orgasm frequently; some are aching for the chance to share their body with another person. Some let their orgasms be controlled by a lover; some actively take control of their climaxes. “You amaze me,” the nameless protagonist of B.D. Swain’s opening story “The Beginning” proclaims. You—readers, authors, orgasmers—amaze me with your boundless sexual hunger and creativity. I’ve been writing and editing erotica for over a decade, but part of why it never gets old is because of the richness, diversity and nuance I find in the stories that come (no pun intended) my way. They fuel my own imagination and show me that I can always learn more about orgasm, about desire, about sex.

The format of 1,200 words or less means these are extremely short stories, but I hope you’ll find, like I did, that what they lack in length they make up for in hotness. As with my previous short-short anthology Gotta Have It: 69 Stories of Sudden Sex, all the pieces you hold in your hand, even the shortest ones (“The Park,” by Elise Hepner, clocks in at 249 words; “Her Lover Is a Flame,” by Cecilia Tan, at 308) offer a snapshot of eroticism that draws you completely into its folds. You might consider each one a teaser, an appetizer, the beginning of a fantasy world you can place yourself into and choose your own orgasmic adventure as you consider where the story might go after the last word printed on the page. Sometimes less is more, and if these stories leave you wanting to see them continued, that’s a good thing. They are, like the narrative in Swain’s opener states, “just the beginning.” Very likely you’ll find a type of orgasm, a sex toy, a scenario, a position, or a fantasy you’d like to see represented here that may not be. If so, please write yours and continue the conversation. If your orgasm doesn’t look or feel the way these characters’ climaxes do, that’s perfectly okay. I want to see us expand the possibilities for pleasure, orgasmic and otherwise, not add to the umpteen ways we’re told we “should” orgasm or have sex. Just as a physical orgasm, however you define or experience that sensation, doesn’t define the end of a sexual encounter, a literary orgasm should not mean you are done interacting with the story. I’ve re-read these pieces, and the numerous submissions I received for this book, multiple times, and each read offers me something new to consider. I envision The Big Book of Orgasm as one you’ll want to revisit, to pick up and read aloud from your favorites to a lover, to keep next to your bed, to tuck into your travel bag.

I’m especially pleased to be publishing so many authors in this collection for the first time in one of my anthologies. There is a power and depth to these voices that I hope resonates with you.
