Romance author Chencia C. Higgins is facing homelessness and the romance community is stepping in with the Romance for Chencia auction. I'm part of that because I donated a bundle of signed copies of 3 books, Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 5, 6 and 7. Volume 7 doesn't hit stores until December 14 so you'll be getting your copy a little bit early and supporting a wonderful cause! The auction has 144 items and runs from today through November 26. At the start of 2021, I made some professional goals for myself, and one was to be asked to do an "in conversation with" interview with an author for a bookstore. I had been asked once over the last few years, but it was in New York and would have required five hours of bus travel, and that didn't really make sense for my schedule. But with the rise of virtual book events, I'm thrilled to say that on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 8-9 p.m. ET (5-6 p.m. PT), I'll be interviewing the amazing Joanna Angel of Burning Angel fame about her new choose-your-own erotic fantasy novel Club 42 for Culvery City, California romance bookstore The Ripped Bodice. Here was my setup for the event, which was so much fun, so interesting and smart and full of laughter and book recommendations and insights. In fact, I felt more relaxed, at ease and happy moderating it than I have with my in-person events. Of course it's different, but that the audience could chat with each other in real time (many of them knew each other, and I saw book reviewers and bloggers, librarians and fellow authors chatting), and everyone was in their own home, felt special to me after almost 20 years of hosting in-person book events. Plus all of us live in different parts of the country, so it's unlikely I could have gathered that particular group for an in-store event even if those were safe to do right now.

My birthday and my new erotica book giveaway

Over the weekend I saw Elton John in concert, explored Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square and ate delicious meals at Zama (some of the best sushi I've ever had) and V Street, a vegan (aka plant-based) restaurant, acquired a shift dress and sweater dress at Madewell, bought mushrooms and English muffin/bagel hybrids (the Philly muffin) from Philly Bread at the farmers market, and turned 44. Here's me in my new sweater dress, which pretty much feels like wearing a stylish blanket and is going to be perfect for the coldest of winter days:



It was a busy, happy and sad weekend all rolled into one and I'm so happy I got to spend it with my boyfriend. My birthday was on Sunday, November 10, which also marked one month until the release of my new anthology, the outrageous-themed Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 5, which recently got a wonderful review in one of the top trade publications, Publishers Weekly.



I've been working on this book for over a year, and am actually finalizing my draft of the Volume 6 manuscript now (if you're waiting to hear back, you will as soon as I can get you an answer), so it's thrilling that it will finally be in bookstores very soon. I'm also gearing up for the sexy 2020 book tour, which is taking me to Brooklyn January 19 for Stoya's Book Club Sex Lit (tickets will be on sale later this month), and weather permitting to Chicago February 13 for an amazing lineup at feminist bookstore Women and Children First, then to LA for a Valentine's Day reading at Skylight Books. I'll even have an entourage! Authors Jayne Renault and Lauren Emily are joining me in both Chicago and LA. We're all traveling together to LA and I can't wait to catch up with them in person.

My copies should arrive this week, and then I'll be sending them to the contributors and my new street team and some to the wonderful Rose Caraway, who's narrating the audiobook and will do a giveaway. How authors can book readings directly with bookstores

Over at Medium, I have an article up on how to book readings with bookstores. I interviewed several independent bookstore staffers, and can say anecdotally from booking my own readings for many years that if you follow the instructions of each bookstore, it's usually a smooth process. Sometimes, I haven't heard back, but usually I've been able to book events in cities I wanted to. Listen live or after the fact. And I highly recommend subscribing to Sex Out Loud on whatever your favorite podcast streaming platform is, because the interviews are always smart and fascinating. Four erotica book sales coming up; make sure you're following me on BookBub

These are flash sales that sometimes last a day or two, sometimes a week or more, so the day you should definitely be able to get them for the lowest price is the day listed below.

These sales aren't happening at the time of posting on March 11, but on the dates below. I'm posting now to give you a heads up since I may not be near my computer the days these go on sale (on Thursday, March 21 at 7 pm I'm doing a live reading at The Pleasure Chest in New York on the Upper East Side, 1150 2nd Avenue, between 60th and 61st, and hope you'll attend because I've got a lineup of amazing authors and FREE BOOK COVER COOKIES for the first 12 guests). Invite your friends with the Facebook event page if you're so inclined, but no RSVP is necessary and the reading is open to all genders (I always get asked if Best Women's Erotica of the Year readings are open to men, and the answer is yes, unless otherwise noted). And if you're an author whose publishers lists deals for you, always ask when they're happening. I didn't used to and sometimes never knew until they were over. Why not do your readers a favor and let them know and do yourself a favor and maximize this special opportunity?

I'm not always told in advance how long the sales will last and sometimes the endings vary at different retailers. I'm posting the dates and Kindle links below (FYI, they are affiliate links, which means I get a small percentage any time you use those links), but the easiest way to find out exactly when my book prices drop, which happens throughout the year, is to follow me on BookBub. You can also follow many of your favorite authors, as long as they have a BookBub account. I would Google their name in quotes plus BookBub or search for them on the site. I follow all my favorite authors and often buy their books when they're on sale.



A heads up that you'll also find out which books I occasionally recommend, usually in the erotica, erotic romance and romance genres, and about my one or two new releases per year.
