Lucky Naughty Girls

"I'm so lucky to have such a naughty girl like you in my lap," Jake tells Deirdre in "What You Deserve" by Lori Selke, the opening story in the book you're about to read. In many ways, that sentence, its promise and passion, its claim and command, is what this book of kinky erotica is all about. There are a lot of naughty girls, a lot of laps, and a lot of men who understand that, in fact, they are lucky--whether they ever voice it or not--to have a hot, eager, filthy-minded woman eagerly awaiting the chance to serve them.

The other half of the equation, one that is vital to any BDSM story, but especially those told with an eye toward female submission, is that the naughty girls themselves know how lucky they are--and if they don't at the start of the story, they do by the end. They know they are lucky to have discovered a seed of submission somewhere within them and someone to complement and nurture that growing seed. They are lucky because they own their darkest, dirtiest desires, even the ones they struggle with, the ones that turn them on despite being taboo or unnerving in some way.

Actually, they are more than lucky; finding a master, a top, a boyfriend, a husband, a lover or simply a man who gets an essential truth about their submissive nature doesn't just happen. Well, sometimes it does, but I believe it takes a certain kind of prowess to activate and draw forth those kinds of dominants, the kind you can trust with your body and soul, your pussy and your power. What I'm trying to say is that the women here don't just wander down an alley and find a man to pin them against the wall; even when they encounter a sexy stranger, they are making a choice to obey him, to follow their own lust as much as another's command.

In "Room #3," when author Emily Bingham shuts the door on her characters, she invites us into a tale where we don't know who is touching the narrator, nor does she; we only know how much she likes it. When the narrator offers up her body, she enters into the unknown, a thrill in and of itself. "The moment I knocked on this door, I consented to become his plaything. From here on out I have no say in what will happen. No words are to leave my mouth in this space; I am at his mercy. I can only hope I've made a wise choice." In all the stories you will read here, a woman makes a similar choice, and we get to luxuriate in the ways that actively making that choice, owning up to our most dastardly, wanton, wicked fantasies can be a ticket to a ride we never want to get off.

I'm sitting in a coffee shop in San Francisco as I quote from Kristina Wright's "Coffee Break," wondering what I would do if a hot barista said to me, "Go to the bathroom now. Leave the door unlocked. Get undressed. Kneel on the floor facing the door." Actually, it's not the barista who delivers that message in her story, but it made me picture what I would do if I were handed a steaming cup of joe and such a command.

The stories in Serving Him are about everything from scenes in dungeons to the ways playing with power can extend beyond what we do when we are "playing." In "Safe, Sane and Consensual," by Ariel Graham, she takes that hallmark of BDSM safety and reflects on the ways we "safeword" when dealing with polite society. "May I ask what the spanking is for?" Aaron asks Annie, and his answer just may surprise you. There are plenty of surprises in store in this book, and whether you're a novice or a seasoned BDSM player, I hope you'll enjoy the exchanges to be found here--of dirty talk, power, roles, toys, games. These characters test each other, pushing boundaries from both sides of the top/bottom equation. Often it's the women who push their men to push them, to stop being polite and start holding them down, making them open wide, forcing them to relinquish a kind of power they are eager to let go off.

Many of the stories here are as intense as the acts described; I see them as tender, but they are likely to take your breath away, make you tremble or quiver, make you just a little bit afraid. That edge of awe and fear, of want and need, of excitement and surrender, is just where I hope these stories keep you. You don't have to be a naughty girl (or boy), in real life or in your dreams, to enjoy the twenty-two stories in this book, but I have a feeling they will bring out your inner naughtiness, whatever form that takes. I feel lucky to get to share them with you.

And as a little extra enticement, a snippet of my closing story, "Subbing," which, I promise, if you like the excerpt, the rest is totally worth reading:

She was aching, dripping, frantic before the crop even touched her. The first touch wasn’t a strike but a tease, as it brushed against her hard right nipple like a feather would, except this feather was made of leather, and she knew it wasn’t always going to feel so gentle. The man ran the crop all along her front, under each breast, along her gently sloping belly, up her neck. He let it rest gently against her cheek and meandered it along her underarm until she almost sighed in frustration. It was on; he tapped it against one nipple then hit the other one. Each nipple rose to attention, and after only a few slaps of the crop, Taylor was gritting her teeth, torn between watching the leather tip strike her tender nubs and closing her eyes to try to deal with the pain, the heat, the glorious rush she got each time the toy landed on her.

Just when her nipples felt like they were on fire, the man once again moved the crop down her body, this time to her inner thighs. He lifted her skirt and nudged her legs apart with his knee, then whapped her inner thighs. Taylor clutched the metal tightly, lest she sink down to the ground or be tempted to grab the crop and rub it against her wetness. The tender, padded flesh leading up to her sex had never been given quite so much attention, and Taylor bit her lip, aching with the sharp, pointed heat he managed to convey so expertly, like he was born to beat girls like her. She could almost forget they were actually playing a game, one in which she got paid for this, and simply be a girl who liked pain, craved it, needed it. It wasn’t until that exact moment that Taylor—as Tina—fully owned her innate submissiveness, her masochism that made even the hint of pain, like when the head of the crop teased her by merely resting against her skin, cause her to feel like she wanted to writhe in ecstasy.

Taylor mashed her lips together, suddenly longing for something between them, something to suck on or simply fill her up, and the look she gave the stranger was one of pure desire, one she was sure he could read just as clearly as the tears that sprouted to her eyes when he let the crop dangle and brushed a thumb lightly over her trembling lower lip. He moved closer, pressing her tight to the wall for a few seconds, then withdrew and raised his hand to her cheek. She shuddered so hard she thought she might come. “There’s so much I’d love to do to you, sweet girl,” he said softly, an equally fervent need crashing right through his voice. Taylor knew they were sharing a moment, a real one, despite its trappings, and her pussy actually hurt as it clenched around nothing. He’d landed one slap across her tender face and brushed away the tear that trickled down, when a buzzer sounded, signaling they only had five minutes left. Taylor twitched, wondering if the sub could request more time.

Call for submissions: Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 2

See also: Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 6 call for submissions for Cleis Press, also with a June 1, 2019 deadline

You are free to either reprint this entire call in full, including contract terms and embedded links, or include a mention of the call and link to http://lustylady.blogspot.com/2019/01/best-bondage-erotica-two-anthology-call-for-submissions.html, which will be kept up-to-date and may include changes to the guidelines. This website will always include the most up-to-date guidelines.

Call for Submissions

Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 2
Edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel
To be published by Cleis Press in late 2020 or early 2021
Deadline: June 1, 2019 (earlier submissions strongly encouraged and will be treated with priority, but all submissions meeting the guidelines received by the deadline will be considered)

For Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 2, Rachel Kramer Bussel is looking for your hottest, most creative unpublished 2,000-5,000 word bondage erotica stories (no poetry). Authors whose stories are accepted for publication will receive $100 and two copies of the print edition of the book on publication. Authors who’ve never published in any of Rachel’s anthologies before are especially encouraged to submit to this anthology. Please make sure to read and follow the guidelines in full before submitting. If you would not be willing to sign the contract terms listed below should your story be selected, do not submit to this anthology. Stories submitted that don’t contain bondage, are received after the June 1, 2019 deadline or fall outside the word count will be rejected..

This anthology will include characters of different races, ages, sexual orientations, locations, occupations, backgrounds and bondage experience levels. The book will also include a wide array of motivations, techniques, implements, and scenarios, though all will include at least one bondage or restraint scenario at some point in the story. Ownvoices stories, in which the story’s protagonist and author share a marginalized identity, are especially welcome; for more information on the definition of ownvoices, click here. I want characters ranging from newbies to seasoned bondage players and everything in between. I want first person, second person and third person stories. I want bondage in bedrooms, at play parties, at offices, in public, in secret. Bondage should be a central focus of the erotic element of the story but the plot does not have to hinge on bondage. I especially welcome stories were the motivations for engaging in bondage are unusual, and settings outside of dungeons, play parties and traditionally kinky settings. Stories do not have to contain a specific amount of sexual activity, but must be erotic in nature and be intended to arouse the reader. For an idea of the types of stories I prefer, see Best Bondage Erotica 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Stories that do not contain any form of bondage or restraint will not be considered.

The final book will include stories focused on both the physical and mental aspects of bondage. Stories featuring bondage plus other elements of BDSM or sexual erotica activity is welcome (spanking, tickling, exhibitionism, voyeurism, intercourse, oral sex, anal sex, sex toys, nipple play, fetishes, kissing, teasing, etc.). The more creative the bondage in the story, the better, but any type of bondage will work as long as the storyline and writing are compelling. I gravitate toward stories that draw me in from the first word and keeps me riveted. The main reason I reject stories for a themed anthology such as this one is that they are too similar to one I’ve already selected, so avoid clichéd plotlines and dialogue. Characters of all genders/sexual orientations welcome. No poetry. All characters must be over 18 for the entirety of the story. No incest or bestiality. Note that I won’t be able to give final answers to submissions until August 1, 2020 at the latest (if I can reply sooner, I will). If you need a response sooner than August 1, 2020, please do not submit to this anthology.

All stories should have a compelling beginning, middle and end. Make every word count and advance the story you want to tell. Consider each sentence and as: Does it serve a purpose? Is it advancing your story? If not, cut it. Make me care about your characters and get invested in their passions.

Only unpublished stories will be accepted; this means no part of the story can have been published or posted previously anywhere, in print, online, on blogs, on bulletin boards or private groups, in newsletters, via email or anywhere else and cannot be published or posted in any form prior to the book’s publication.

Rights: One-year exclusive rights. Authors will retain copyright to their stories. See contract terms below. If you would not be willing to sign the contract terms below, do not submit to this anthology.

ONLY SUBMIT ONE FINAL, THOROUGHLY PROOFREAD, GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT VERSION OF EACH STORY. Since I will be reading and considering stories as they come in, only the initial story submission will be considered; subsequent versions of the same story will NOT be considered, so please keep this in mind and make sure the submission you send contains exactly the story title, author name and text you would like to see published in the book. If I am interested in a revised version of your story, I will contact you.

How to submit: I will consider a maximum of two stories per author. Submit each story as a separate attachment using an email address that you check regularly. Submit only 2,000-5,000 original, unpublished stories that are not being considered elsewhere. Stories under 2,000 words or over 5,000 words will be automatically rejected. I want only original work that has never been published in whole or in part in any format, including online and print. Must use U.S. grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.). Submit to bestbondageseries@gmail.com by attaching a Word .doc or .docx file, double spaced, Times New Roman Black font and titled BBE2 LastName StoryTitle. At the top of the first page, include legal name, pseudonym (if applicable), mailing address, phone number (only to be used for urgent communication about your story) and 50 word-or-under third person professional biography either on the first page of your story. This should be the exact bio you’d want published in the book. URLs in bios should be listed in the first sentence in this format:

Rachel Kramer Bussel (rachelkramerbussel.com) writes fiction and non-fiction.

All stories must have a title and author name included at the top of the first page with the submission (no untitled stories). Indent half an inch at the start of each paragraph. Use only double spacing for the entire file; do not add extra lines between paragraphs or use any other irregular spacing. If you cannot use Word, submit as both an RTF and include the full submission in the body of an email, including title, story text, bio, name and pseudonym (if applicable), mailing address and phone number. MAKE SURE TO THOROUGHLY PROOFREAD YOUR STORY BEFORE SUBMITTING IT. All stories that are between 2,000-5,000 words and submitted by June 1, 2019 will be considered.

I will confirm that I have received your submission within one week. I will respond to all submissions by August 1, 2020 (yes, 2020) at the latest. If I can respond sooner, I will. If you have not heard back from me by August 2, 2020 feel free to follow up at that time. Payment: $100 and 2 copies of the book on publication. Payment will be made only via Paypal (strongly preferred) or U.S check (only for U.S. addresses).

I need LOTS more bondage erotica for my new anthology

I almost titled this post, "Where has all the bondage erotica gone?" because save for a handful of short story submissions, the inbox for my Cleis Press anthology Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 1 call has been quite empty. I'm offering $75 and two copies of the book. The deadline to submit is coming up this Sunday, July 1, 2018. It could be that it's the summer and people are busy or it could be I've failed in my job as an editor to spread the word to enough writing communities. While that's bad news for me as I struggle not to bite my nails over this situation, it's good news for anyone submitting because your chances go way up when I have fewer submissions to choose from. Yes, I could always extend the call if I don't have the stories I need by July 2, but that feels like admitting editorial defeat and is something I avoid if I can help it. If you know of any websites, groups, mailing lists, etc., that might have writers of bondage stories, feel free to pass it on or let me know at bestbondageseries at gmail.com where to submit this call (or the next one, should I get asked to edit another volume).

I'm especially looking for submissions that surprise me with their plotlines and creative types of bondage, stories that feature people of color and stories by authors I've never worked with before, but I'm open to any and all unpublished stories that meet the writing guidelines. So if you know anyone who has a bondage story they've been wanting to get published or can write one in the next few days, please pass along the call for submissions. This graphic is just a way to get people's attention, not a suggestion of the types of bondage I want for this book. Instead, I want people of all genders restrained. I want mental and physical bondage. I want newbies and very experienced bondage players and everything in between. Maybe I'm worrying for nothing that there will be a big influx of submissions over the weekend, but if not, I wanted to spread the word to anyone who might have missed this call or perhaps seeing this post sparks a story idea.

bbeanthologycall

And then August 1, 2018 is the Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 5 call for submissions deadline. Looking forward to reading all your stories!

If you're wondering why it takes so long to hear back, see my Medium post about the timing. In my forties, I'm trying to work smarter so that I can create better books with less stress and fewer errors. Hence, instead of setting the deadline in October or November, which would give me very minimal time to actually edit and select pieces, I've made these deadlines so I can give my copyeditor more time, consult with authors in case I have revisions, and have a manuscript in to my publisher well before they need catalog copy (the blurb you see on the back cover of the book that's also listed in a publisher's catalog and disseminated to retailers 8-12 months in advance of the book release).

Don't miss your chance to get published in Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 1 from Cleis Press

The July 1, 2018 deadline for my Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 1 call for submissions is coming up and I haven't received too many submissions. I hope that's because all you budding writers of kinky bondage stories are brainstorming and writing and self-editing, but if not, I wanted to remind you that I WANT TO READ YOUR STORIES! And I'm especially looking to publish work by writers I've never worked with before, because I think it's good for readers, good for the genre and good for a new series to publish new (to me) writers.

So please spread the word. I'm paying $75 for original, unpublished stories. Everything else you could want to know is in the call, but if you have any questions after reading it, contact me at the email address listed there and I'll get back to you ASAP (might be a little slower in early June when I'll be traveling).

This anthology won't be published until late 2019, but it takes a long time to put together an amazing book that's proofread until it's as close to perfect as possible. If you want to know more about the timeline for my books (although I've since revised it a little to give myself and my copyeditor more time to do our work), read my Erotica Writing 101 post about why it takes so long to hear back from anthologies. Speaking of Erotica Writing 101, I am available to work with private clients on your erotic fiction or sex-related nonfiction projects, although I don't work on any pieces that authors plan to submit to my anthologies, as that would give those authors an unfair advantage. I'll be accepting new clients through June 1, 2018, and then again starting on June 18, 2018.

3 new kinky erotica audiobooks

I'm very happy to share that three of my Cleis Press kinky erotica anthologies are now available for your listening pleasure in audiobook form on Audible. If you don't have an Audible account, you can also use your Amazon login information to access Audible, since Amazon owns Audible. These titles are already out in print and ebook but the audiobooks are all brand new. Two of them have narrators I haven't worked with before, and the latest, The Big Book of Submission, Volume 2: 69 Kinky Tales, is narrated by Rose Caraway, who also narrated the first volume. If you like femdom BDSM stories, don't miss Please, Ma'am, and if you like bondage, especially creative bondage stories, several of which have a fun home repair theme, check out Best Bondage Erotica 2015. Yes, I know it's 2018, but I promise, they're just as sexy three years later.

You can listen to a free sample of each of these by clicking on the links below. Audible lets you purchase these a la carte or get a monthly membership. Hope you like them!

Introduction: Ready to Say Yes (Sir)

When I started working on Yes, Sir, I didn't expect the title phrase to be taken as a literal motto, but more as a call to arms (or rather, to surrender one's arms) for submissive women who seek out dominant men. I intended Yes, Sir and its companion volume Yes, Ma'am to be the bottoms' answers to my previous collections, He's on Top and She's on Top, to showcase our fantasies, desires, and deepest wishes. I wanted those of us who love to be tied up, spanked, blindfolded, bound, or "used" for another's pleasure, to tell it like it is, to explore why and how we get off in these ways, and the authors presented here gave me what I was looking for--and more.

Here you'll find all sorts of women for whom their personalSirs (or Masters or Daddies) hold the reins to their erotic pleasure. For them, saying yes (or a bratty, defiant no for which they'll be duly punished) is as powerful as a good, hard smack on the ass. They give up control in all kinds of ways, letting their doms decide who they'll fuck to when they'll come, to which color panties are acceptable--and which aren't. In one of these stories (you'll have to keep reading to figure out which one), playing at Sir, having your lover become the Sir of your dreams when real life may dictate otherwise, lets the two players take their kink to a whole new level.

Some are old pros at BDSM, and have had many masters, while for others, the language of domination and submission is a novelty. They may not know exactly why they thrill to being told what to do, but they now for sure that they like it, as in the case of the newbie in "Sitting on Ice Cream."D.L. King's Libby overcomes her natural shyness in "The Day I Ca me in Public,"proving that the very acts she first scoffs at are ones that give her no end of delight. It's almost as if the doms who enter their lives see the potential for submission in these women, and want to bring it forth for their own naughty motives, along with making the women come harder than they ever have before.

The inherent power dynamics of the classroom are brought to light in Donna George Storey's "Dear Professor Pervert," a story in which, once official class time ends, the real learning (about everything from masturbation to butt plugs) begins, as well as in Lisabet Sarai's "Body Electric," wherein a prominent professor shows a colleague his very intriguing "apparatus." In Sommer Marsden's "In the Corner," the man who first introduced Amelia to kink lures her away from her current "nice guy" date.

These women aren't pushovers by any means. They make rules and negotiate with their masters, though sometimes they also get off on being pushed just a little too far by men they know they can trust. In "The Art of Darkness," Alison Tyler writes, "Once Killian understood my fear, his mission became not to save me from my phobia, but to exploit it, every chance he could." She objects, but when she finally surrenders, she experiences a whole new world, where a blindfold is the path to ecstasy. And the woman who lets herman dictate her meals in Elizabeth Coldwell's delicious "Lunch"? Well, she knows exactly what she's doing. "I could go home and just tell Michael I'd done as he instructed. But he would know. He always knows when I try to disobey him, however careful or sneaky I try to be." In other words, she's not doing what he says simply because he says it, but because something inside her gets off on obeying. So too in Shanna Germain's story, the protagonist makes an active choice to go where her inner ache to submit compels her: "'Follow,' he said.Something in me resisted, but the power of his voice, the way he walked away from me as though he knew I would trail after him, made it so I couldn't say no." And the woman getting fucked on the sofa in Maddy Stuart's short, sexy tale flinches at the words slut and whore, even as her body responds to them. This duality, with the brain protesting but the blood rushing to the surface, is also part of the thrill of submission, especially for strong, powerful women.

These writers make clear just how much their characters get off when they say "Yes, Sir," whether literally or figuratively. Sure, they maybe doing their masters' bidding, but the masters are often doing the subs' bidding, in their own way, as well, making them ache, moan, quiver, and, yes, come. They know just how to draw out their subs' pleasure (and pain), how to make the most of a woman whether she's on her knees, or bent over, or at her computer waiting for the next command. They know that denial, temptation, and frustration can be the most arousing acts of all. They know that, as Teresa Noelle Roberts puts it, "The Power of No" can often be just as hot as the power of yes.

Gwen Masters asks in her title, "How Bad Do You Want It?" I turn that question over to you, dear reader. How bad do you want to be bound, gagged, spanked, or slapped? How bad do you want to have your hair pulled, your nipples clamped, your body strung up? How bad do you want to pant, gasp, scream, and squirm? How bad do you want to turn over some part of yourself to a man just dying to strip you bare and take you somewhere you've never been? I don't know about you, but I want all of those things, very much, and, I'm thankful to say, I (and you)have them all right here. Just turn the pages, and be prepared not to get up for a good long while.

New Cleis Press call for submission: Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 1

I'll recap our wonderful Washington, DC Best Women's Erotica of the Year reading this weekend, but first I wanted to give all you writers out there the longest amount of time possible to craft your hottest, kinkiest stories for my next Cleis Press anthology. The call and all details are below; any questions after reading it in full should be directed to the email address below. Please feel free to share this call wide and far. As you can see, I'm especially interested in working with new authors! Submissions that don't follow the guidelines will be rejected. No extensions will be granted, so plan accordingly. And of course the part I bolded is important, and also one that with every single call I post, multiple authors ignore. If you do, it's highly unlikely I will accept your work, so just know that going in. I try to be as clear and transparent as possible. My calls are long to save my time and your time. I promise.

Call for Submissions
Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 1
Edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel
To be published by Cleis Press in late 2019
Deadline: July 1, 2018

For Best Bondage Erotica of the Year, Volume 1, Rachel Kramer Bussel is looking for your hottest, most creative unpublished 2,000-4,000 word bondage erotica stories (no poetry). This anthology will include characters of different races, ages, backgrounds and bondage experience levels, plus a wide range of motivations, techniques, implements, and scenarios engaging in a bondage or restraint scenario at some point in the story. For an idea of the types of stories I prefer, see Best Bondage Erotica 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. While reading them is not required for submission to this anthology, I generally will not repeat highly specific bondage implements that appeared in any of those volumes. Stories that do not contain any form of bondage or restraint will not be considered.

The final book will include stories focused on both the physical and mental aspects of bondage. Bondage plus other elements of BDSM or sexual activity is welcome (spanking, tickling, exhibitionism, voyeurism, intercourse, oral sex, teasing, etc.). The more creative the bondage, the better, but any type of bondage will work as long as the story is arousing and draws me in from the first word and keeps me riveted. The main reason I reject stories for a themed anthology is that tales are too similar to each other, so avoid clichéd plotlines and dialogue. Authors I've never published before are especially encouraged to submit to this anthology. Characters of all genders/sexual orientations welcome. No poetry. All characters must be over 18 for the entirety of the story.

No incest or bestiality. Note that I won't be able to give final answers to submissions until August 1, 2019. If you need a response sooner, please do not submit to this anthology.
All stories should have a compelling beginning, middle and end. Make every word count and advance the story you want to tell. Consider each sentence and as: Does it serve a purpose? Is it advancing your story? If not, cut it. Make me care about your characters and get invested in their passions. Please see Best Bondage Erotica 2011-2015 for examples of the types of stories I've published.

Only unpublished stories will be accepted; this means no part of the story can have been published or posted previously anywhere, in print, online, in apps, on blogs, on bulletin boards or private groups, in newsletters, via email or anywhere else and cannot be published or posted in any form prior to the book's publication in late 2019.

Rights (see below): non-exclusive right to publish your story in this anthology in print, ebook, and audiobook form. Authors will retain copyright to their stories. See contract terms below. If you cannot agree to these contract terms, do not submit work to this anthology.

Submit only 2,000-4,000 original, unpublished stories that are not being considered elsewhere. Stories under 2,000 words or over 4,000 words will be automatically rejected. I want only original work that has never been published in whole or in part in any format, including online, apps, blogs, newsletters, social media, print or any other outlet. Must use U.S. grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.). Submit to bestbondageseries@gmail.com by attaching a Word .doc or .docx file, double spaced, Times New Roman Black font and titled BBE1 LastName StoryTitle. At the top of the first page, include legal name, pseudonym (if applicable), mailing address, phone number (only to be used for urgent communication about your story) and 50 word-or-under third person professional biography either on the first page of your story. This should be the exact bio you'd want published in the book.

All stories that are between 2,000-4,000 words and submitted by July 1, 2018 will be considered.

I will confirm that I have received your submission within one week. I will respond to all submissions by August 1, 2019 at the latest. If you have not heard back from me by August 1, 2019 feel free to follow up at that time.

Payment: $75 and 2 copies of the book on publication. Payment will be made only via Paypal (strongly preferred) or U.S check (only for U.S. addresses).

Questions: bestbondageseries@gmail.com (make sure to read the guidelines in full before sending questions) These will be the non-negotiable contract terms. If you are unwilling to sign this contract, DO NOT submit to this anthology.

The parties agree as follows:

I. GRANT OF RIGHTS

Author hereby grants Editor, during the first term of the United States copyright, and any renewals thereof, in the "Work":

Win a signed copy of spanking erotica book Bottoms Up - enter by January 3!

If you're on my mailing list you'll know I sent out a bonus end of the year newsletter with a giveaway of 5 copies of my spanking erotica anthology Bottoms Up: Spanking Good Stories. If you're not a subscriber, please subscribe at rachelkramerbussel.com (and tell your sexy book-loving friends to subscribe too!), then enter here by January 3, 2018. Yes, like all my newsletter giveaways, it's open internationally. That's all! Plus here's a look at the fun logo mailer I'll be sending the winners' books in:

bottoms-up-giveaway

If you know anyone who likes erotica, please tell them to subscribe to my newsletter and enter!

I sent that extra newsletter partly because there was an ebook sale I'd just found out about (you can keep track of those by following me on BookBub; about every 4-6 weeks one of my titles goes on sale for $1.99) and partly because I'd found a stash of books I wanted to give away, but also as a THANK YOU for reading my work. This is a very lonely business even though I work with authors around the world, I do almost all of it at home, alone.

Plus I've now been in editing anthologies for 14 years and I feel very, very lucky that not only do I get to continue to do so and that they reach stories all across the country (a bookstore in Alaska picked up Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 2!), but that last year I had the best book sales I've ever had. I couldn't do that without you, so I'm very grateful and will be giving away books every month of 2018 via my newsletter. I skipped a few months in 2017 because I was depressed and overwhelmed by life but I'm determined that even if I have those feelings again, I will make good use of my Mailchimp list, and not just because it costs me $30/month. I got into this work because I love connecting with people and that's what I want to keep doing. Plus I'm a weirdo who loves going to the post office.

I just ask that if you win please consider leaving a short review on Amazon, Goodreads or anywhere else (and that goes for any of my books that you read your reviews help my books reach more readers, which helps give me funds to do more giveaways and events like my February 13 Washington, DC Best Women's Erotica reading!).

Also I'll have two U.S. only giveaways going up on Goodreads soon so follow me on Twitter and Facebook and check out the next newsletter for details on those. Happy reading and good luck!

I'm thrilled that my new BDSM erotica anthology The Big Book of Submission, Volume 2: 69 Kinky Tales is out in ebook in time for Christmas and the last day of Hanukkah.

bigbookofsubmission2finalcover

While I'd never recommend anyone release two books in two months if they want to stay sane, I am happy that it's out and available for those who want some hot reading over the holidays and into the new year. With 69 stories, there's a lot of variety and these are very short stories, each 1,200 words or less, so the book clocks in at 376 pages. If you want a teaser of what's in the book, I posted excerpts of all 69 stories at Lady Smut. If you're all, What a hot cover, I love spanking and bondage and power dynamics and can't wait to start reading, you can download it in seconds for:

Three days left to submit your stories to The Big Book of Submission, Volume 2

I didn't get a chance to post it here (it's quicker for me to post on Twitter and Facebook so I tend to post updates there more frequently) but I extended my call for submissions for my Cleis Press BDSM erotica anthology The Big Book of Submission, Volume 2 to Tuesday, February 28th. I usually get a flood of submissions, and have for the three previous 69-story anthologies I edited, but for this one, I have gotten far fewer submissions than I need this time around. So this is the final extension, which has been updated from the original slightly to more accurately reflect what I currently need to complete the manuscript. If you can whip up a hot, creative, kinky submissive story that fits the guidelines by Tuesday, send it in!

If you previously submitted a story to The Big Book of Submission, Volume 2, your story is being considered; do not resend it. If you have previously submitted one story, you may submit another one (for a total of two), but if you have already submitted two stories, please do not submit any more. Highly creative, unique and unusual settings, motivations and characters are most desired.

Call for submissions
The Big Book of Submission Volume 2 (working title)
Edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel
To be published by Cleis Press in 2018

Right now what I am especially looking for are: stories starring people of color, stories about BDSM and submission in creative settings (especially outside bedrooms and dungeons), stories about people new to BDSM, especially stories about new dominants (but told from the submissive’s perspective), stories about less common fetishes, male/male (or male/male + other characters) stories, male/female (or male/female plus other characters) stories and stories in which submission is used as a tool of personal growth and/or empowerment. I will consider female/female stories but those are already abundant in my manuscript so it would have to be especially outstanding. Yes, some of these are a lot for a 1,200 word or less story to do, but I have faith that writers can dazzle me with their stories, and I especially encourage those whose work I’ve never published before to submit. All stories received by the new deadline of February 28, 2017 (11:59 pm EST) will be considered.

Please make sure to read and follow these guidelines in order for your work to be considered. Editor Rachel Kramer Bussel is looking for short erotica stories of 1,200 words or less focused on the theme of submission within BDSM. Stories submitted that are over 1,200 words will be rejected. While the word count is short, I want complex stories with a beginning, middle and end, not simply scene snippets.

I will consider stories from a dominant’s perspective if that is the best way to illuminate the mindset of the submissive, but they must explore what the submissive gets out of the scenario in some way. The final book of 69 stories will contain an extremely wide variety of characters, POVs (I welcome first, second and third person stories), settings, scenarios, motivations, experience levels, motivations, BDSM practices (which can be combined with other sexual acts), fetishes, couplings, relationships, etc. I welcome the use of sex toys and BDSM implements, real or imagined. All genders and sexual orientations welcome.

All characters must be over 18 for the entirety of the story; no nonconsensual activity, scat, incest or bestiality. No poetry. Original, unpublished stories only. Stories from authors whose work I have not published before are especially welcome. See The Big Book of Submission: 69 Kinky Tales to get a feel for the types of short submissive erotica I enjoy. Please note that this anthology will not include author bios.

How to submit: Send double spaced Times or Times New Roman 12 point black font Word document (.doc or .docx) with pages numbered OR RTF of 1,200 words maximum to bigbookofsubmission@gmail.com. Stories that are not in keeping with the theme of the anthology or are over 1,200 words will not be considered. DO NOT submit multiple versions of a single story; submit ONLY your final, complete, edited version of your story with the story title and byline you’d want published. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and double space (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). US grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.) required. I will consider a maximum of two stories per author. Include your legal name (and pseudonym if applicable), mailing address. If you are using a pseudonym, please provide your real name and pseudonym and make it clear which one you’d like to be credited as (such as Jane Doe, writing as Ann Smith). You will receive a confirmation within 72 hours. I will get back to you by September 30, 2017.

Payment: $25 and 1 copy of the book on publication in 2018

Introduction: The Joy of Restraint

Perhaps I shouldn’t have been surprised to find, when putting together this anthology, that about 75 percent of the story submissions involved the submissive’s, or bottom’s, point of view. When it comes to bondage, the feeling of giving in, surrendering, allowing oneself to be placed at someone else’s mercy, comes alive on the page, and these authors certainly know how to vividly depict that appeal. Though there are stories here from a top’s perspective, told by dominants who delight in the thrill of watching a lover squirm, struggle and submit, most of the stories here go the other way.

Take “The Rainmaker,” by Elizabeth Daniels, in which Amy, a bit uncertain, allows herself to overcome her fears and get tied up:

Darkness and the ropes enfolded Amy like a chrysalis. Her mind was clear, finally at peace. After months of agonizing over every step of foreplay, after sex that consisted of checklists and flow charts compiled from hours of research, for once, she did not need to think or plan. Like extradark chocolate, such dependence was not something she would want every day, but for the moment, it was a bite of bitter bliss.

I especially appreciate the stories here that illuminate the leap of faith one needs to make to allow someone else to bind him. In “Truss Issues,” Emy repeatedly tells Samir that she’s not into bondage, doesn’t want to be tied up and yet, somewhere inside, she knows that isn’t totally true. “To her surprise, her body didn’t sync up to her beliefs. She felt a warm liquid rush flood her cunt… Cursing her body for its betrayal, Emy nestled her teeth in her lower lip and forced her breathing to remain calm, to not come out as a needy whimper.” What happens when she surrenders teaches her that she doesn’t have to give up all of herself to enjoy the sweet friction and emotional journey that submission to bondage can incur.

In the lesbian scene in Dusty Horn’s “Subdue,” the narrator finds herself, finds the core of her submission and learns how to be patient.

After what seems like eons without touch, her hot hand on my chin is electrifying. She lifts it up and back, pressing something against my smooth exposed throat. Tugging firmly up on the hair at the nape of my neck, she wraps the rest of the mystery object against the top of my spine where my still body meets my busy mind.

“This is mine,” she hums to me as she slides a metal clasp into place. “This is not your collar. It’s mine, for you to wear.”

The collar bulges around my neck, a leather halo engorged with blood.

Other stories stand out for their unique scenarios. In “The Ingénue,” by Janine Ashbless, a young woman finds a bound man outside in the yard, and goes to investigate this curious vision. “How the Little Mermaid Got Her Tail Back,” by Andrea Dale, puts a kinky twist on a beloved fairy tale. In “Sealed for Freshness,” Mitchell pays for his disobedience with a flogging against his plastic-wrapped skin, while in “Stocks and Bonds,” some historical role-play at a Renaissance Festival leaves Kerri begging for mercy.

I was looking for stories that spanned the world of bondage, and boy did I get that! Here, you’ll find rope and handcuffs, as you might expect, but you’ll also find cling wrap, Ethernet cables, stocks and bonds, silk ties and other implements whose creators probably didn’t intend them to be used in kinky play. There’s bondage at the office, bondage onstage and under a red turtleneck sweater dress. There are bondage beginners and seasoned pros, men and women who offer up their wrists, ankles, necks and other body parts to those just itching to play with them.

This is a book for anyone who wants to know what’s so arousing about being tied up. Whether you’ve ever experienced bondage or not, these authors boldly take you along as they negotiate what they are and aren’t willing to give up, and illustrate the blissful beauty that can take place, inside and out, when you make the choice to give up some of your freedom and mobility in order to access the world from a new perspective.

If what drew you to this book was the stunningly sexy image on the cover, I can assure you that the stories you’ll find inside is just as hot—possibly even hotter. They are about so much more than simply what one looks like while tied up: for instance, what it feels like to wait, longing for release while also hoping the joy of restraint never ends. That push/pull is at the heart of bondage, and that is what you will experience along with the characters, those brave subs, brats, bad girls and naughty boys who offer themselves up so their masters and mistresses—and you, the reader—can savor them, one click of the handcuffs at a time.

Femdom erotica sale this week: Yes, Ma'am: Erotic Stories of Male Submission is just $1.99!

Short version: my femdom BDSM erotica anthology Yes, Ma'am: Erotic Stories of Male Submission is only $1.99 this week on Kindle, Nook, Google Play, iBooks and Kobo. Bonus good news: this week only, the Yes, Ma'am audiobook is only $3.99, so you can read or listen (or both) for a much lower than usual price. It's for sale on Audible or Amazon. Below is what's in the book and me taking a moment to remind myself how far I've come. If you've already read it or read it now for the first time, I'd love if you shared your honest opinion about it wherever you purchased it or on Goodreads. Those reviews help sustain a book like this and keep it alive (yes, I have plenty of books I've edited that are out of print, never to be revived, not available in ebook or audiobook form, so this matters to me.)

Introduction
Giving It Up: Letting Her Rule

“What makes a man cower before a powerful woman?” I asked in my call for submissions for this book. What you’ll find here are numerous answers to that question, though surely there are infinitely more waiting to be written. Men are the ones gifted with all sorts of power in our society, but our dirty little secret is that so many of them long to strip themselves of this power, to be tied down, gagged, spanked, taken, owned. They want to be made to do a woman’s bidding, whether that means being ordered into a threesome or put on full, naked display, as you will read about here. They want to ease the burdens of manliness, if only for a little while, to be “ordered” to do all the naughty things they’ve dreamed of.

Submissive men are some of the most misunderstood, and invisible, sexual creatures around. Their voices simply aren’t heard in popular culture, though you’ll find them in plenty of bedrooms, in the blogosphere, and in fetish clubs. After putting together the anthologies He’s on Top and She’s on Top, I wanted to look at BDSM from the bottom’s perspective. Why would a man want to give up control? What does he get out of such an arrangement? These stories show you some of the tantalizing possibilities out there for sniveling men and the women who love them.

Men who crave the company of a dominant woman find her with wives, girlfriends, and dominatrices, sometimes bringing out the kinky tendencies of their partners, other times tapping into what’s already well developed, yet we rarely hear their authentic voices telling us what makes them shiver with fear and excitement. There’s still a taboo element to our leaders—in business, government, and the home—voluntarily relinquishing the top spot. Men are taught to be the hunters, not the hunted, and when the tables are turned, many are all too thrilled to be treated like scum. The flipside is that any woman who can lure a submissive man into her lair knows just how valuable a prize she’s gotten and will surely want to keep him happy, even if this means putting her foot down, literally, upon him, as the boss in “Secretary’s Day” does to her new hire.

“Masturbation without permission was strictly forbidden. This was the most difficult for me because I got so worked up being Rikka’s little whore that I desperately needed to jerk off,” writes Alex Mendra in “Zero Sum Game.” He describes his setup with the commanding Rikka as “perfection,” striving to be everything she desires, but delighting in each form of punishment she cooks up, whether a firm spanking across his ass or the sudsy scene she cooks up for him.

In Stephen Elliott’s “It’s Cold Outside,” the element of realism he so beautifully captures takes us far beyond the clichéd Catwoman fantasy into the stuff of real life, where a woman commandeers the body of the narrator while her boyfriend is asleep. She leaves him tied up, helpless—and horny, and he takes her marks with him, literally and figuratively, when they part.

In “The Mean Girl,” Teresa Noelle Roberts writes of a man reminiscing about his first fantasy domme, now embodied by his real-life Cruella. “I tasted every humiliation I’d ever faced in my hopeless pursuit of Muffy Spaulding—made new and fresh and delicious because now it was coming from Heather, whom I loved. Whom I really did worship, kinky games aside.”

There’s also plenty of humor here. In “A Different Sort of Reality Show” by D. L. King, the author takes us behind the TV screen, where a man is controlled by a cacophony of women’s voices, each taking more delight than the next in ordering him to humiliate himself for their pleasure.

Debra Hyde encapsulates perfectly why the “unruly” man doesn’t just wish to be tamed, but needs to be. “Fear no longer dominates; submission does. I am vessel and vassal—tool and toy, the means to her pleasure. I am hers.” If those words resonate with you, making you long for a woman to come along and grab you by the scruff of your neck, or order you to your knees, or simply control you with one fierce, all-knowing look, then this is the book for you. Go ahead, say the words out loud: “Yes, Ma’am.” Wherever your domme is, she’ll hear you.

This is one of my earliest anthologies, finished so long ago I had to formally go back and remind myself what's inside it, which is exactly what I needed this week. Why? Because lately I've been having a tough time, trying to figure out where to go next, what path to follow, or forge. I still don't know but am exploring new possibilities, ones that may be better suited to my talents and needs. So seeing work I produced when I was almost a decade younger, work that stands the test of time helps remind me that I do have the power to create, whatever that next creation looks like. It also reminds me what I love about the anthology editing process: getting to work with a range of writers, with very different styles and approaches, which I will be doing in a few short weeks for Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 2. I have largely moved away from anthology editing to other types of work, but it's an honor to get to work with women from around the world, one I don't want to take lightly. (If you know any women, especially women who might have great erotic stories lurking inside them but have never written erotica or thought of themselves as "erotica writers," I'd love if you'd pass on the call for submissions. The April 1 deadline is fast approaching!)

I do believe in signs, in reminders, in prods in the right direction when I can't provide them for myself, and while it's gratifying to see my book at 500 in the entire Kindle store (and charting on the Audible audiobook erotica bestseller list), it's even more gratifying to know that something I completed so long ago is still in print, still viable, still valuable to readers who may be exploring kinky sex for the first time or the four thousandth time. I can't and will never speak for anyone else, but for me, I needed that reminder to help me move forward, no matter what the future looks like.
