Friday night radio: Sex Out Loud hosted by Tristan Taormino

I'm thrilled to be returning to Tristan Taormino's Sex Out Loud radio show this Friday night, October 11th, at 8 pm EST, and that Matie Fricker of Self Serve Toys in Albuquerque will also be on, because I'm teaching Erotica 101 there on November 12th. Follow @SexOutLoudRadio on Twitter for the latest news and guests, and listen and call in (if you can't make it Friday, you can listen afterward, click link below for full details). Oh, and I added a new sentence to my bio: "She’s written erotica about Monica Lewinsky, washing dishes, boxing, an oral sex restaurant, French fries, fisting, bukkake, face slapping, snow, ice, hot wax, a spanking machine and many other topics." From the site:
This week’s show is live, so find out all the ways to listen here so you can call in with questions at 1-866-472-5788, join the discussion on Facebook or Twitter, or e-mail me via tristan(at)puckerup.com and I’ll read them live on the air!

Notes, Princeton, art, Wired for Story

Yesterday in photos - I'm not seeing the rotate option on Flickr, sadly, so my notes from my appearance on Boston Public Radio show On Point (click to listen to the show) are sideways. They really do say it all about how insanely nervous I was, but I felt calmer the more it went on, confident I did, indeed, have something to contribute (and will be writing more about Fifty Shades of Grey):

Walking through the Princeton University campus:

Art at the Princeton Public Library:

What seems like a game changer book for how I understand fiction, Wired for Story by Lisa Cron (see wiredforstory.com for more information), which I discovered/bought at Labyrinth Books. Subtitle is: "The Writer's Guide to Using Brain Science to Hook Readers from the Very First Sentence." Yes, it's about characters and how to make them realistic, but it's also about the very human need for story, a big topic this year (see also The Storytelling Animal: How Stories Make Us Human by Jonathan Gottschall).

In Los Angeles, live on the radio tonight, BDSM Night at Dr. Suzy

I'm going to be on the Dr. Susan Block show again tonight, this time live, 10:30-midnight Los Angles time! Click here to listen. Tomorrow I'll be at the West Hollywood Book Fair 1:15-2:15 on a sex writing panel. I will also be chasing down the Grilled Cheese Truck, and stopping by Skylight Books in Los Feliz and also high-end, beautiful sex toy store Coco de Mer to sign books! I used lots of stuff from Coco de Mer in my about-to-debut Orgasmic book trailer, and think I can safely say my books have never looked so gorgeous as they do in the display case at the one in New York.

I also have to adjust some of my clothing so my bra strap doesn't rub against my new tattoo on my back (I'm writing about it so will talk about it more next week.)

It's fitting that I was on Cheap Date because I am a cheap date

You can read more about that in my interview tomorrow at must-bookmark NYC cheap things-to-do site The Skint.

You can listen to me chatting with Cathy Erway of mouthwatering food blog Not Eating Out In New York fame and Michael Cirino on yesterday's Cheap Date radio show, shot at a pizzeria, Roberta's Pizza! The studio is just outside. We discussed whether aphrodisiacs exist, if cupcakes can be sexy, and more.

We had pizza afterwards that was delicious, one with some spicy meat (called The Beastmaster) and one with brussel sprouts! I was shocked that the foodies weren't whipping out their cameras (I smartly managed to leave mine at home). Catch Cathy Erway along with me, Emily Farris, Jenine Holmes, Rachael Parenta, Yolanda Shoshana, and Heather Whaley January 21st at Sex and Food Night at In The Flesh Reading Series. I'm working on getting us mini hot dogs!

January events! Derek and Romaine tonight, In The Flesh, Best Sex Writing, Erotic Love Letters

It's a busy month kicking off a busy year, filled with many deadlines and many events...here's what's on tap for January. I'll provide the February recap once these events are over, or you can always check my site's calendar (needs updating at the moment, sorry) or my RSS calendar on the left side of this blog. Lots of travel coming up, about one event per month for the next little while. There's also a Cupcakes Take the Cake Meetup this Saturday at Out of the Kitchen, and an event called Kiss and Tell on January 16th at Arena Studios that I don't have any more info on, but, uh, I'll be there!

Tonight (Thursday, January 10th), despite this evil cold, I'm going on the Derek and Romaine show on Sirius OutQ to talk about Best Sex Writing 2008. I will try not to steer the conversation too far into Romaine mommyland, but I may not be able to help myself. Speaking of which, there were soooo many adorable babies and little kids at the U.S. Embassy on Monday. Yes, obviously I was very jealous but I'm biding my time. 2010 or 2011 maybe? Then I can start becoming a baby factory (I definitely want more than one).
