And if you just can't get enough stories about giving and getting head, I've also got Tasting Him: Oral Sex Stories and Going Down: Oral Sex Stories - click through on each title to download a free ebook sample or listen to an audiobook sample!

Here's more about Tasting Her to whet your appetite, so to speak. And if you're reading this after the giveaway is over, you can get a free sample of these tasty, sexy stories.
Savor the art of oral sex

An impromptu shaving session triggers a lustful bathroom encounter between a married man and his mistress. A woman who can't read a map discovers the sensual geography of "down there" thanks to her girlfriend's talented tongue. A female scientist teaches her husband a new area of study when she substitutes the word "tongue" for "hello." The twenty-one tales in Tasting Her form a sexy group portrait of the joys of cunnilingus. Encompassing everything from fantasy trips to in-the-flesh pleasures, and starring both seasoned pros and enthusiastic novices, these steamy stories bring new meaning to the phrase "read my lips."

Introduction: Reading Her Lips

Whether you've delved between a woman's legs, received cunnilingus, or fantasized about either, Tasting Her has a lot to offer you. To be honest, I'm usually not the biggest fan, personally, of getting head. Often it feels either rushed or perfunctory, or like I'm not sure how long I should give the person until we move on to something else. I don't always know when or how I will come, though plenty of women swear by a little tongue-lashing (or a lot!) to do the trick.

What's great about this collection is that there are oral sex connoisseurs and newcomers, men and women, who explore the treasure to be found in a woman's pussy, often in surprising ways. Maybe they think they know everything there is to know about giving (and getting) head, but have a partner who wants to show them something new.

We sometimes forget, given stories about men who refuse to go there (and yes, I've encountered a few), that there are plenty of men and women who truly enjoy, relish, and get turned on by basking in a woman's sex. The kind who find eating pussy not just a pit stop on the way to something greater, but the ultimate pleasure. Sometimes this can take the form of a BDSM scene, where someone is being "forced" to do what he really loves best. At other times, these happy lickers have to convince their partners that they want it so bad they'll do anything to get it.

In Jen Cross' outstanding story, "Queen of Sheba," we meet one such couple:

Jimmy would use his hands to hold me open, and his whole mouth, his nose and chin and cheeks. He'd fuck me with his tongue, then lap at me with the full flat of it, wriggle the tip across my clit, then capture the fat little head between his thin lips and suckle first gently, then more sharply, as I came. And came. And came.

He got me off so many times when he was down there, like that was the whole point. Can you imagine? Her narrator learns that some men treat a woman's pussy like it's the pinnacle of her body, even when the woman herself may be a little puzzled as to what he loves about it so much.

I've been in the position of Gwen Masters' Teresa in "Teaching Teresa," refusing to let someone go down on me simply because I didn't think it would be all that fun. The last person I tried that with, though, used my refusal as a pawn in our sexual game, and when I let him advance, he showed me just how wonderful a well-placed tongue could feel. I think he wanted to show me what I'd been missing. In Masters' story, our hero has to articulate what it is he enjoys about the act:

"I love everything about it," he told her. "I love the smell--that deep and secret scent. I love the taste. I love the way it changes when a woman comes, and the way it changes again after I've been inside her. It's like I can taste all the different levels of arousal."

Teresa was looking up at him with wide eyes.

"Most of all, I love the way a woman moves. I love the way the same touches can get a different reaction every time. But I also love finding that one thing that drives a woman crazy every time."

Other lessons are imparted throughout this collection, and I can tell you that by the end of the editing process, I was more than ready to spread my legs. Whatever your feelings about going down, I hope this book will broaden your horizons, and expose you to the ways cunnilingus can become part of a relationship, a quickie fling, a BDSM scene, and so much more. The characters here, from the dedication of the man who gives geographical names to specific parts of his lover's sexual anatomy in Jeremy Edwards' "Cavanuagh's Ridge" to the kinky pleasures of the couple in Teresa Noelle Roberts' "The Dominance of the Tongue," have a thing or two to teach you about pussy power. Savor them and their adventures, as well as your own.

3 oral sex erotica anthologies

For fans of oral sex and hot stories, here are my 3 erotica anthologies on the topic, all in one handy place. I'm putting together my syllabus for my three-hour CatalystCon erotica writing workshop March 14th in Arlington, Virginia and "Queen of Sheba" by Jen Cross from Tasting Her is on the recommended reading list! It's such a wonderful story, one I don't mind rereading over and over because I get something new out of it each time. "Tony Tempo" by Tsaurah Litzky is one of the best portrayals of an older person enjoying sex I've read, and "Prego" by Alison Tyler is about, yes, Prego sauce, and would have fit perfectly in my Bon Appetit food porn roundup. Going Down has the most variety of the three in terms of sex acts and plenty of queer stories, as well as the excellent transgender erotica story "Sucking Casey's Cock" by Shanna Germain, but they are all creative and varied. You can also get an aural sex fix by listening to free samples of each at Audible: Tasting Him, Tasting Her and Going Down.

Ladies Who Lust

Lust. It’s one of those four-letter words that trips off the tongue. When I say it out loud, it makes my lips want to curve into a smile. Lust is more than simple arousal; it is the force that makes us not just turned on, but craving a certain person (or people).

I used to write a sex column called “Lusty Lady,” named after the famed strip club, but somehow lusty, rhyming as it does with busty, sounds a bit like a joke, an added bit of humor, which is how our culture often treats sex. Lust, though, is different; it’s intense, overpowering. While in real life we may not always act every time lust calls to us, in fiction, we can abandon the safety of propriety and seek out lust and sex wherever we find them.

The characters in Women in Lust may vary in the objects of their lust, and how they go about acting on their urge, but what connects them is that pure impulse for a lover. Sometimes he is someone she knows well, is married to or dating; in other stories, he is a stranger, and is sexy precisely because he represents the unknown. Women also lust after other women here, as in Kayar Silkenvoice’s Japanese happy ending massage story, “Cherry Blossom,” and while we only hear one side of the story, I’d like to think the working woman is doing more than just her job. In addition to the culture clash, there’s the joy of throwing caution to the wind while on vacation, using travel to broaden one’s sexual horizons. Whether watching a lover playing guitar, using a webcam, going out for a smoke or simply embracing a chance encounter, these women seize the opportunities presented to them, and savor the lovers who teach them about themselves and help them open up to new sensual possibilities. Sometimes that means looking at the man they live with in a new light, and other times that means something much naughtier. Either way, their lust is a valued part of their lives, not a pesky afterthought or to-do list item on “date night.”

The objects of their lust are not always the “right” person. In “Rain,” a woman falls for her best friend’s boyfriend, one of the ultimate dating taboos, but she goes for it. Sometimes the desire itself, the way it can be used to tease and taunt, as in Charlotte Stein’s “Guess,” is maddening, but we embrace our lusts even when they are maddening, even when they make us do things we might otherwise consider reckless.

For every woman here who can locate her lust on the map of her body, who zeros in on her target and goes for it, there is another who is opened up to her lust by a lover, whether it’s Jen Cross’s narrator pondering what it was, exactly, her orally generous long-ago lover got out of being between her legs. The first words of Shanna Germain’s powerfully kinky “Beneath My Skin” are “I’m afraid,” to which her lover, Kade, responds, “You should be.” Fear can be a powerful motivator and, crossed with lust, can lead to explosive results.

Whether discovering the joy of a younger man, not to mention some delicious pudding, in “Comfort Food,” by Donna George Storey, or taking sex and bondage into the great outdoors in “Something to Ruin” by Amelia Thornton, these women indulge in new ways of getting off and pushing the limits of their lust. Thornton writes: “Despite my longing, there was still part of me that wanted to protest, to tell him to cut me loose, to run wildly through the forest back to the safety of our picnic blanket, but to me that is the beauty of rope: to desire escape but to willingly be imprisoned, to feel the pressure of something that prevents my movement, yet to know there is no place that I feel safer than when trapped like this.” She captures the excitement of giving in to a dominant lover, even when there is a small part of the narrator that is unsure, for that is precisely the part that fuels her desire. This story captures the true power that lies in submission and the many joys it can bring. In “Her, Him and Them,” by Aimee Pearl, the narrator submits to various lovers who question her and push her not only to be the best sub she can be, but to figure out why, exactly, she likes the thrill of submission and service.

I hope these stories inspire some lusty days and nights for you, as they have for me.

Erotica reading photos from Bluestockings

I read at Bluestockings on Saturday. Wasn't sure what I was going to read until I got there; opted for the oldie but goodie "Lap Dance Lust" and Jen Cross's story "Queen of Sheba" from my IPPY Award winning Tasting Her: Oral Sex Stories, which is a personal favorite. I can read other people's stories aloud with much more authority than my own!

This photo's netted me three compliments today, so thank you! I now have new glasses (Gucci, and they're kindof blinged out on the sides) that are brown...so I can color coordinate. Was thinking I'd go bold with red or blue but these work well. Photo TK.

I won 2 gold IPPYs!

I won! That is, the IPPYs (independent publishing book awards).

I won the GOLD for erotica (Tasting Him: Oral Sex Stories and Tasting Her: Oral Sex Stories tied!) and for Sexuality/Relationships for Best Sex Writing 2009. Congratulations and thanks to my awesome independent publisher, Cleis Press, and my amazing contributors. This is inspiring, especially as I put together the 2010 edition of BSW.

I get my gold medals at the ceremony on May 29th (I'm also signing FREE copies of Best Sex Writing 2009 that day from 12:30-1:30 at BEA)

My books are IPPY finalists!

3 of my books, Tasting Him: Oral Sex Stories, Tasting Her: Oral Sex Stories, and Best Sex Writing 2009 are 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY) Semifinalists! Woo-hoo!

And for those who are curious...I personally paid and submitted 4 of my books (those three and Spanked) because I felt it was important. The way I see it, that money investment is worth it because if my book or books win, it's a big coup for me and my publisher. So, fingers crossed!

What do I have to say about oral sex? Plenty!

And sex writing team Em and Lo picked my brain about fellatio and cunnilingus and my books Tasting Him: Oral Sex Stories (read introduction here) and Tasting Her: Oral Sex Stories (read introduction here). The funniest part is that it was kindof an email fiasco because they kept emailing me the questions, I think three times, and even though I use gmail, they weren't getting through, so finally they had to send me the questions so they looked like this, like some bizarro sex form of Mad Libs:

This book features b**j*bs flavored with creme de menthe, cinammon roll frosting, and even Prego spaghetti sauce (!)...so tell us, why DO food and f****tio go so well together? (And do you have a favorite?)

What's one thing that people most often get wrong about c*nn*l***s?

Read my answers to those and other questions:

Em & Lo interview about Tasting Him (interestingly, there's an alternative cover on their site - not sure what that's about, but I'll find out, it's all from the same set I believe)

Em & Lo interview about Tasting Her

Which reminds me...wonder how I'd have pulled off book trailers for these two? If we do sequels, I'll be sure to find out!

Review-o-rama

I'm in San Francisco, supposedly on vacation but running all over madly. I'm patting myself on the back for making my flight, which has not been my strong suit this year. It's nice to be away from New York, even though I have a lot to do, like make a PowerPoint presentation for a speaking gig at the Princeton Club (!!) in November about pitching to food bloggers, and a little writing.

But I wanted to share some reviews, plus Kristina Wright told me Bedding Down got a 4-star review in Romantic Times! Can't wait to see it, especially because this book has the potential to be truly big, in part because Harpercollins/Avon Red can get the books into places like RT, and also because from what I sense, the erotic romance market is slightly different, and I would assume larger, than the market for general erotica. It's also available as an e-book, and it comes out December 2nd, and we'll be shooting a book trailer next month. Anyone interested in covering it (review, interview, etc.) for a publication, write to me at rachelravenous at gmail.com with your mailing address and publication details. Perfect for any Valentine's Day coverage.

Apparently, Harriet Klausner got her hands on a copy and concluded:

“One Night in Winter” by Kristina Wright. Susannah returns home to Minerva where her former lover Derrick reignites their heat

“Six Weeks at Sunrise Mountain, Colorado” by Gwen Masters. Stressed to the max, burned-out millionaire Fletcher flees for Sunrise Mountain to escape; there he rescues a frozen bruised Janine who in turn rescues his libido and heart.

“It’s Not the Weather” by Alison Tyler. Shelly assumes it is her fault that her boyfriend Roger is cold regardless of what she tries; so she gives up on him only to find warmth and passion with Jeremiah.

“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Marilyn Jaye Lewis. Married couple Kaylie and Connor becomes snowbound, which gives them time to reenact some of their hottest moments.

“Northern Exposure” by Isabelle Gray. Their marriage is over yet neither Alana nor Gideon can move on as each wonders if they should give it one more try.

“Hidden Treasure” by Sophie Mouette. Brenda and Sean discover a treasure, but will they understand what the real treasure is.

“Sweet Season,” by Shanna Germain. After being away for awhile, Dulcie returns to her family’s maple syrup business only to find Travis is the real sweetener.

Although the plots are paper thin, the lead couples are developed enough to emit plenty of heat for fans to appreciate this wintry erotic septet.

In The Flesh snapshot

Oral Sex Night at In The Flesh Erotic Reading Series

You can see more photos from last week's In The Flesh by Stacie Joy in this Flickr set.

It was fabulous - I estimate 80 people showed up to hear everyone read about oral sex. We'll have video soon. I was impressed with all our readers, and am so honored that people like Donna George Storey, Emerald and Fiona Zedde traveled from out of town. I was thrilled that the bookseller from Mobile Libris had such a good time he wants to come back. Extra huge thanks to Stacie and Desiree for handling all the goodie and snack passing out (Desiree made super cute plates with Krispy Kreme donuts as the centerpiece; I hope someone got a photo of that). I will definitely be getting Krispy Kreme again in addition to the usual cupcakes, candy, and chips!

Thank you to all! I'm working on drink specials and sponsors for November 20th's big 3 year anniversary party, so stay tuned, you don't want to miss it!

Apologies and thanks to the AWESOME Jay Thomas Show

I was on the Jay Thomas show this morning (at 7:35 am EST!) on Howard 100 on Sirius and it was SO FUN! We talked all about Tasting Him and Tasting Her, and they played the Spanked book trailer, and mostly I laughed a lot. What fun. I usually go into the Sirius studios (in a building I used to work in, 1221 Avenue of the Americas - also right near the about-to-open Magnolia Bakery) but Jay is in LA and so it was call in.

But, bad news, my phone died in the middle of the interview (though I was on air for a while, about 40 minutes I think), and for that I apologize to all Jay Thomas listeners and to Jay and the crew. That was totally my bad, and I didn't have my charger on me. Dumb Rachel! From now on, I will make sure my charger is with me at all times.

Listen to the Jay Thomas Show! He's freaking funny. Promise.
