Hello Kitty tombstone, Tera Patrick's Hello Kitty tattoo and more from Hello Kitty Con

Yes, I went to Hello Kitty Con, and wrote it up for Thought Catalog, who are the awesome publishers of my book Sex & Cupcakes: A Juicy Collection of Essays and sponsors of my open bar (from 6-7), free cupcake (first 2 dozen are free, so there's some incentive to arrive early!) book party November 17th at Sweet Revenge, 62 Carmine Street, NYC! Party is 6-8, but there's good reason to arrive early. Lots more photos in the article. Even if you can't make the party, if you know anyone in New York who likes sex, cupcakes, drinks and fun, please let them know. I don't know if/when I'll have another book party and am honored that both Thought Catalog and Sweet Revenge were generous enough to throw it for me.

Porn star Tera Patrick wore a Hello Kitty dress and has a Hello Kitty tattoo on the back of her neck:

This was one of my favorite pieces of art, by Yarns & Noble:

And my piece closes, as you'll see, with the big question of whether to go all out Hello Kitty when I die. I'm turning 39 tomorrow so hope that's not anytime soon, and really hope, more than anything in the world, that I get to use Hello Kitty diapers and bottles and all that jazz before my next birthday (the tombstone was in a "Hello Kitty life cycle" display):

Home sweet Hello Kitty champagne glass

I've got lots to share, from a ranking of the four hotel rooms I stayed in in L.A. to new articles and such, but first just wanted to say how happy I am to be home. I adore travel, find it vital and necessary and energizing, but it's so wonderful to be at home with wifi on a chilly day. Tomorrow I'm getting a used Mac laptop because I just can't live by Google Docs alone anymore. In the meantime, writing awaits, but one of my crowning travel achievements this trip was getting this Hello Kitty champagne glass home intact!

This isn't really a segue, but no, I don't drink much champagne, but you can read about my bubbly adventures in my essay "Champagne Sex," only in my new ebook Sex & Cupcakes: A Juicy Collection of Essays. Want a free copy? Be one of the first 25 people to show up at my book party November 17th, 6-8 pm at Sweet Revenge, 62 Carmine Street, NYC (near the West 4th Street A/C/E/B/D/F/M trains). We'll also have an open bar from 6-7!

Happiness is writing about Hello Kitty travel

This Hello Kitty travel article for The Frisky is one of my favorite things I've ever written. Hopefully someone will want my report on the Hello Kitty Cafe in South Korea I plan to check out this summer. A little bright spot amidst moving mania.

Hello Kitty and NSFW stickers on my new MacBook Pro

Bought the Hello Kitty sticker last night in the Sanrio store in Japanese Village, where I also snapped the $300 stuffed animal below! The NSFW sticker was given to me by Violet Blue at our reading at Booksmith!

And while I'm Hello Kitty geeking out, check out some other things I saw there:

Hello Kitty press-on nails

Hello Kitty Adhesive Roller - oh, okay

I'm not quite sure how I found this at Sanrio.com and I definitely know I'd never need one (I'm catsitting at the moment, but won't be tomorrow). At first I thought it was a paint roller and got very excited; shame of 2010 is that I did not get a chance to paint anyone's apartment. Must fix in the new year; dear world, I am available for my stellar apartment painting skills (and enthusiasm!), and I have references. I will do it for free, and if you're one of my very close friends, in my underwear even. Because I'm pretty easy to please; just stick a paint roller in my hand, put the tape on the walls (yes, you do the hard/boring parts), and I'm happy.

Hello Kitty Johnny Cupcakes limited edition t-shirt coming in December

This is what you miss if you don't read Cupcakes Take the Cake daily (or add us to your RSS feed). You can also like us on Facebook. And obviously, if you're in Seattle or New York, don't miss our December 7th bicoastal 6-year anniversary parties!

I am a major Hello Kitty and Sanrio fan, and right now they are doing a popup tour (I saw a very cute limited edition Hello Kitty iPhone case at CupcakeCamp LA!). I’m getting to the cupcake connection, I promise…

Johnny Cupcakes, who is in the process of opening up his London (UK) store in 2011, will be launching a limited edition Hello Kitty t-shirt next month, an item that is shooting straight to the top of my holiday wishlist! How fun. Stay tuned to johnnycupcakes.com and his blog (scroll down for photos from Sanrio's 50th anniversary), as well as Twitter and Facebook (where over 70,000 people are fans!), for ordering information. via Nitrolicious

Sex toys on my wishlist

I found these on the site of Chicago sex toy store Early to Bed, where I did a reading way back in 2004. Time to go back, I think, especially because Chicago is seemingly cupcake central. Am hoping for early 2010 for a return visit.

Three words: Hello Kitty Ramen

Six more words: Hello Kitty Hell. New Favorite Blog.

Okay, I need more words (this is not Twitter, after all): I am a huge Hello Kitty fan, though not as huge as this guy's wife. !!! LOVE IT.

Update: p.s. It's not every day (or probably ever up to this point) that I write a subject line consisting of "White girls represent" and yet I was compelled to in response to Jessica Cutler's assertion that the Hello Kitty Hell wife is probably Asian. I'm not so sure about that; I know plenty of white girls who'd kill for Hello Kitty (hi, Lisa Loeb). Okay, maybe not kill, but close enough.

Well, whatever her ethnicity, I admire her obsession. I have a toaster, two pillows, and a Hello Kitty/Marilyn Monroe bobbly head desk toy. I think the trick is to find a guy who at least tolerates HK, though I think the blog is totally adorable. Then again, I'm dating someone who bought a Hello Kitty Easter egg kit. He is not Asian, if that makes any difference. Come to my book party and we can all debate - and if someone dressed as a kinky Hello Kitty you would get all the prizes I can possibly come up with and as many free drinks as you want.

p.p.s. A Hello Kitty crock pot! (Yes, I'm sure this could go on forever, and I don't mind.)
