Funky Brown Chick interviews Tristan Taormino

I know I've been a bad blogger, and I'm not sorry. I have a lot to say at some point, but had multiple deadlines this past week, like turning in the final proofs on the nipplelicious Dirty Girls: Erotica for Women, (my friends are just calling "the nipple book" for i's extra-hot cover) which just got a great shoutout on the Playboy blog. Stay tuned for news of March 2008 Dirty Girls book release parties in NYC and SF and a Dirty Girls blog. I also turned in my novella anthology Bedding Down: Winter Erotica to my Avon Red editor. And I've been working on my novel, the trials of which I shall write more about later, but suffice it to say, it's the most challenging thing I've ever done. Also, that Polish paper, Wysokie Obcasy, where I was topless on the cover? The article's now online. In Polish, of course.

Plus, oh, plenty of other projects. And I'm having a party on December 14th for my book Sex and Candy (not out yet, but on its way very soon). There'll be candy and free cupcakes from Kumquat Cupcakery and Jen Dziura, who wrote a story called "The Fat Box" in Sex and Candy and more. But the party ends right before 9 pm so a band can play, so be on time! Another reminder when it gets closer, but do mark your calendars.

Also, I'm interviewing Tristan tomorrow for the magazine where I work, Penthouse Variations. We're gonna talk about anal sex but also polyamory and fellatio and cunnilingus and probably lots of other stuff too. I'll let you know when that issue hits the stands.

WHAT DO PEOPLE LEARN ABOUT ANAL SEX WHEN THEY GO TO YOUR WORKSHOP? I MEAN, LIKE, WHO GOES TO A WORKSHOP ABOUT ANAL SEX?

Certainly not everyone in the room is at the same experience or comfort level. There are definitely people who [think], "I can't believe I'm sitting in a room and that woman's going to open her mouth and she's going to say the words 'anal sex'." And, then, there are other people who clearly -- by their questions and with the way they talk about anal sex -- have been doing it for a while. They’re there to sort of pick up tips and see how they can improve. They’re more likely to ask advanced questions during the Q&A. [Anal Pleasure 101] is very much geared for beginners, but I welcome all kinds of questions. So, certainly there are people who ask 201 and graduate-level questions during that period.

OH, WOW. I’M CURIOUS. WHAT THE FUCK IS A GRADUATE LEVEL QUESTION ABOUT ANAL SEX?

Anything about really large toys. Someone might come up and say, “How big is the biggest thing I can put in my butt?” That’s graduate level. Questions about anal fisting, question about double penetration. [If] you’ve been doing anal play and you’re obviously comfortable with it, you want to take it to the next level
