Sexinthepublicsquare.org party and Delicious Sandwich Social

August has probably been my busiest month ever - in addition to In The Flesh, I have events August 17, 18, 23, 25, and 27. After that, no more madness of that nature, though I'm talking about doing a Philly event on my birthday (November 10th) but it's a cool one. Anyway, this weekend there's a big party for the site Sex in the Public Square and the 3rd Annual Delicious Sandwich Social, both promising to be a lot of fun. Friday I'm reading just after 8 pm and then will probably be heading out to the "final" final happy hour, or something like that (if I last that long, may have to go home and collapse rather than hang with the adorable hipsters, it's been a looooong week filled with very little sleep and a still very long list of work to do). Also, my Seal Press book Dirty Girls (I think the proper subtitle is "Erotica by Women" but am checking), out in February, is now available for pre-order on Amazon. It's gonna be HOT, with work by Carol Queen, Sofia Quintero, Marilyn Jaye Lewis, Marie Lyn Bernard, L. Elise Bland, and many others.

Sex in the Public Square is dedicated to expanding the space for public discussion of sexuality. Blending the techniques of blogging and social networking (think Blogger meets MySpace but completely open source!), Sex in the Public Square is a space on the Internet where members can explore which parts of sex are private, which parts are public, and what happens when private and public collide. We believe that sexuality is a fundamental component of human life, and that by excluding it from "polite conversation," we lose an important element of democratic participation.

With forums, blogs, reviews, resource lists, calls for action, and a nationwide calendar of events dedicated to sexualities of all genders, colors, and persuasions and with thousands of visitors and new contributors joining each week, we're ready to celebrate our "birth" and we want you to join us!

The Rules:



1. Bring one FULL delicious sandwich (hero, hoagie, roll, bread) with you to the event.



2. Label and submit one half of your sandwich to the DSS advisory board.



3. Sandwiches will be labled with the name of submitter, and/or vegetarian, meat, dairy, etc. This can be done at the event.



4. Every participant will get one half of another participant's sandwich submission and keep the other half of their own.



5. One lucky random sandwich half will contain THE GOLDEN TICKET redeemable for the DSS prize package.



6. Enjoy your sandwiches, find the person who's sandwich you've eaten, throw a frisbee, have some fun!
