Tuesday, July 17th: Eggplant or Music

Two very cool RKB-endorsed events are happening this coming Tuesday:

The first is a reading for the fabulous, delicious anthology Alone in the Kichen With an Eggplant edited by Jenni Ferrari-Adler.

It's at 7 pm at Chelsea Barnes & Noble in NYC (6th Avenue and 21st Street) with Jenni Ferrari-Adler, Jonathan Ames, Jami Attenberg, and Laura Dave. Book party to follow at the Belmont Lounge.

There's also (go if only to hear the amazing Devon Sproule, she's so amazing!):

The Rejection Show Music Series gives bands, singer-songwriters and musicians the chance to do a combination of the following:

*Take risks and try things that they think would otherwise be rejected by other events/shows/venues (doing their songs in a different way, a really “out there” cover song)

*Songs that were left off of their album(s)

*Cover songs that inspired them during a time that they were feeling most rejected.

*Songs on their albums that have to do with the rejection theme and tell the story behind it

From the creator of ‘The Rejection Show’ comes ‘The Rejection Show Music Series’ -- Produced and Hosted by Jon Friedman (The Rejection Show) and Sara Schaefer (AOL’s The DL).

Featuring:

The Lisps are a New York-based assemblage of 21st century post-rock n' vaudeville auteurs. They write songs about science and love and sometimes perform in costumes, with tap shoes. The Lisps are the public/performative version of all the relationships you're struggling with.

Devon Sproule’s new take on timeless music is a breath of fresh air blowing in from Virginia. She just celebrated the release of her new CD, Keep Your Silver Shined and this is what the New Yorker had to say about it: “The nimble singer-guitarist Devon Sproule chronicles her ongoing love affairs with humanity, nature, and the state of Virginia. She performs with a sweet, round diction that shines through even her most ornate imagery and rambunctious melodies.”

Stickerbook is New York City's hottest all girl experimental cover band, bringing a space-age sound and glamorous spectacle to your favorite tunes. NYC’s most kick-ass cover band!
