Tidbits

Last night's KGB Kinky Jews/Novel Jews reading went fabulously. I was late so missed the first reader but had a great time and was blown away by Rachel Shukert, who I am stealing for In The Flesh at some point. She read "Mutual of Omaha," about major orgy action at Jewish summer youth groups, and read it in such a funny way that we were all in hysterics. And I got cupcakes brought to me from Two Little Red Hens, and I've got to say, those are some of the richest, gooiest cupcakes I've ever had. It was fun to eat the red velvet one I attempted and watch people try to manage the abundance of cupcake. Major thanks to GirlyNYC for showing up. She's been to more of my readings than anyone else. (And done some of them, like Early to Bed in Chicago.) She'd heard my story a bunch of times, which is why I usually try to read new work, especially at In The Flesh, but I only had that one story with a Jewish theme (called "A Very Special Israeli Souvenir"). Still working on way too many assignments at once, though the next week or so should see most of them getting turned in and then hopefully I can get back into book proposal land and into this more creative writing I want to do.
