Cupcakes Take (Over) The Media

Check it out - my fellow cupcake blogger Allison Bojarski and I are quoted in a fabulous article by Helene Blatter in The Press-Enterprise called "Cupcakes Get Classy," along with our cupcake heroine Clare Crespo and even a UC Davis professor! (though we actually get about 2,600 hits a day, and counting)

"There's something very satisfying about the size and display of a cupcake that you don't get with a cookie or brownie," says Rachel Kramer Bussel, co-author of the blog Cupcakes Take the Cake ( www.cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com). "People are very happy when they eat a cupcake."

Kramer Bussel, who prefers vanilla cupcakes with vanilla icing, says the blog, which she co-authors with friends Nichelle Stephens and Allison Bojarski, gets an average of 2,000 hits per day, double from last year. It features colorful photos of tasty-looking cupcakes, recipe suggestions and information about where to find cupcakes across the country...

Cupcakes Take the Cake blogger Bojarski says the appeal of cupcakes is about convenience -- you don't need knives or forks -- and variety, a factor that speaks to a 21st-century ethos in which cable TV channels target niche audiences and iPods are used to create personalized jukeboxes.

"With cupcakes," Bojarski says, "everybody's happy, everybody gets something they like."

Bojarski's preference: chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting.
