Nick Carter of The Backstreet Boys with Yes, Sir contributor

When you edit an anthology, you meet, and virtually meet, all sorts of writers--I don't have an exact count, but in my over 50 anthologies, I've worked with hundreds of writers. They can surprise me in the most delightful ways, such as Jocelyn Bringas recently did by sharing this photo of her with Nick Carter of The Backstreet Boys, and the book she contributed to, Yes, Sir. How cool is that?

From "Pink Is The Enemy" by Jocelyn Bringas

“Take off your skirt.”

My fingers immediately obeyed his request and tugged the material down to the floor. I was now one thong away from being completely naked as I stood with my back facing Duke. “What the fuck?”

I heard him get up from his chair and stomp his way to me. My heart was racing. He never got up from his chair unless something was terribly wrong. I gasped when his hands viciously grabbed my asscheeks and spread them far apart.

“Why are you wearing a pink thong?”

Crap! I had forgotten to change my underwear before coming to his home. My boss had kept me late at work and by the time I was on the freeway, there was no time to go to my apartment for an underwear change. Duke always wanted me to be at his home on time. If I was even just one second late he wouldn’t bother answering the door.

My heart felt heavy knowing I had disappointed him. I had always been so good about changing my underwear. I aimed to please him and breaking my streak made me feel really bad.

He walked away, leaving me standing there frozen. I didn’t want to move an inch. Last time I moved to look for him I was put in detention. His form of detention was no touching and no fucking for two days. Not having his cock for forty-eight hours had been pure torture and I didn’t want to risk experiencing that again.

Yes, Sir: Erotic Stories of Female Submission
The lucky women in Yes, Sir give up control to irresistibly powerful men who understand that dominance is about exulting in power that is freely yielded. Bound, gagged or spanked—or controlled with just a glance—these erotic adventurers experience the breathtaking thrills of sexual submission. With stories by Donna George Storey, Alison Tyler, Stan Kent, and many more of the best writers in the field, Yes, Sir shows that pleasure is best when dispensed by a firm hand.

My book is on PostSecret and Amazon's most gifted erotica book list!

The good news keeps pouring in for the best book I've ever edited, The Big Book of Orgasms: 69 Sexy Stories! I've been honored and thrilled that the book is making such a connection with readers and am looking forward to our January 3rd reading at The Museum of Sex as part of Between the Covers. I got an email last night that someone took the book's postcard, wrote some kickass news on it, and sent it to PostSecret! I hope that all erotica writers can do what they love for a living, and that all my The Big Book of Orgasms contributors have smashing success in their writing careers. Thank you, fairy book mother or father, for helping this little book reach a whole new audience. You made my weekend!

I also saw that The Big Book of Orgasms is the 26th most gifted erotica book on Amazon, right behind mega blockbuster Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James. Go us!

Speaking of Amazon, here's what some reviewers are saying, such as DeDe Deylnn, who you can read more of on her blog:
So many steamy scenes happen and this book has opened up my perspective on new places, scenarios, and perspectives on having a good orgasm. There are plenty of queer stories, by queer writer, included in this book that would make anyone very happy. Two of my favorites: a story about two men at a construction site and the other a dominate woman and a man playing with power, control, and orgasm denial. It's so hot. I totally suggest you check this book out.
And Alex:
Another great thing about this compilation is that the stories, while short, are long enough to get both the mind and the juices flowing. Explicit enough to intrigue and leave you wanting more without being blatant and overbearing. These stories are involved enough to spark discussion and desire.

One of my favorites is "Under the table," by Elizabeth Caldwell, which creates the setting for a hot fantasy about getting hot and bothered in a restaurant but leaves enough of the picture left for me to finish the scene on my own. Another is "The Massage," by Lady Cheeky, which gets a bit detailed as the author goes from anticipation to post-orgasm jelly... there are very few things, in this world, as great as either giving, or receiving, that kind of whole body, orgasm.

Last night at Booksmith, in photos

I have to run a few errands, like buying a case for my pretty new laptop (though I must admit, Tantek showed up and pulled out his 11-inch MacBook Air last night and it was so light, I wondered if that would't have been the better option), then catch a plane to Los Angeles - I'm on the Dr. Susan Block Show tonight, and I want to get me and all my huge amount of belongings settled into my hotel and just write. No dates, no ice skating, no phone calls, at least, for one day. I've been running around nonstop and have been feeling physically off. I Tweeted that the reading would be a success if I didn't cry. I didn't, at least, not on the outside, not there. At Booksmith I was proud of myself for reading that totally fraught story and so happy to hear my fellow authors. The after where I was a little sad, where I could recall exact phone calls made from exact streets, plans and dreams and fantasies, that was, well, after. That's another story for another time, but I was happy to remember some of the good parts, the ones that make anything not-so-good worth it.

photo of me before the reading by Violet Blue via Flickr - to be totally vain for a moment, I love this photo!

I will write more about how Booksmith is the best place ever to do readings; if you want to watch last night's, Click here. Thanks to everyone who showed up, to the guy who had me sign his birthday card with my lips, to the Sarge and Reputation and Wild Flag fan, to all my friends and to the Booksmith staff, who not only hosted a wonderful evening but really know their books. Thank you to Violet Blue, Susie Hara, Dusty Horn and Donna George Storey, who all breathed life into their stories that, much as I love the written word, it just doesn't have in the same way on the page. Dusty sold sexy calendars to benefit Lyon Martin Health Services (see photo below and, incidentally, I'll spank you anytime!). One of the highlights for me was chatting afterward with them about all manner of books.

Thanks, Josh, I hope you had a fabulous birthday! You were very cute - I kindof wanted to pinch your cheeks and make out with you, but in a friendly way. I was happy to sign your card with my eyeliner (before I was given a lovely purple pen) and lipstick.

I bought these at Booksmith (and they gave me the tote bag for free, which I will wear proudly). Looking forward to reading The People Who Watched Her Pass By by Scott Bradfield, Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin and Stuff: Compuslive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things by Randy O. Frost and Gail Streketee.

And welcome to my hotel life world (which, I will say, has been greatly improved by the use of Skype):

Since editing Do Not Disturb: Hotel Sex Stories, I always take these. I've liked the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, but think they don't need to make the staff where crazy uniforms. I booked this via Quikbook for $93/night!

I kicked these off my bed getting comfortable. Oops!

Thank you especially Booksmith, everyone at Cleis Press, especially Kat for driving me to Emeryville, and Violet Blue, for whom I promise to return for a proper vacation and longer stay and mayhem and fun!

The best endorsement In The Flesh could ever get

And it touches me more than I can say. From the one and only Susie Bright, who I was SO honored to have at the series in February, and hers was the only time we opened up the upstairs and downstairs. via Huffington Post

I have read and performed at hundreds of venues, all over the world— and in terms of sheer class, generosity, and author-happiness, the only producer who comes close to Rachel, is the British Film Institute. And they don't have cupcakes.
