quick London recap

My camera battery died and I've left the charger at home, so photos from the 02 Center, home of the Spice Girls concert, will have to wait. My seats were way high so about the best shot I took all night was of the ass of the girl in front of me and her belt that said "ROCK" in rhinestones. They put on a great show, though. I hadn't been to a big stadium show in a looong time, and my first venture on my own on the tube went well, save for one tiny detour. I think I've drank about 30 cups of tea since I've been here!

The rest of the week, I plan to check out pop art portraits at the National Portrait Gallery, see the Louise Bourgeois exhibit at the Tate Modern, sample as many of London's cupcakes as I can, and visit Coffee, Cake & Kink, which I've heard much about, and which carries some of my books. And I'm going to visit my high school friend Karen, whose second baby is due on Friday. Now I wish I were staying another week, but much to do awaits me at home.



Oh, and happy news...my proposal to teach "Bringing Sex to Life: Writing and Publishing Erotica" at Dark Odyssey: Winter Fire has been accepted! It'll be my first time there. I'm a wee bit nervous, not about teaching the class, just about what I'll get up to - I don't consider myself so much of an exhibitionist, but sometimes I surprise myself. We shall see. But this means that so far for 2008, I have 3 erotica teaching gigs lined up (January 27th at Babeland and Sex 2.0 in Atlanta in April being the others); I am hoping to start doing that more often, because it helps me clarify things and learn and find new writers, and make a little money. The one I did last year in Chicago was small but the attendees were awesome and wrote some amazing stuff. I need that for those times when I get bored with erotica (yes, it happens).
