I don't have you with me now but I keep a good attitude
I really am in love with Pathfire's cover of "Miss Misery." I still love Elliott's music but sometimes it's still hard to listen to it. And even though this is such a sad song, one that sortof became lighter by default after having been used in Good Will Hunting, it's still beautiful. I think that was one of Elliott's major strengths, to lull you into the beauty of the music and only later would the heartbreaking nature of the lyrics hit you. And for some reason this cover I can listen to a little more easily than Elliott's. I can never listen to people who've died tragically, too young, without some wistfulness, even when it's Kirsty MacColl at her most danceable, I just wish she were still here to dance. Anyway, Pathfire manage to imbue "Miss Misery" with that vulnerability Elliott had when he sang, especially the love songs, but for some reason, to me, Pathfire's version sounds hopeful to me.
